Lac d'Almaty

We went to visit Big Almaty Lake with our lovely tour guide Gulzat. She picked us up from our accommodation early morning and we proceeded to the lake. On return we also visited a fall. Gulzat was friendly and explained everything to us and even took some lovely pictures. I recommend this tour if you are visiting lovely city of Almaty. 😃

The guide Yelnar from Kazia tour was very punctual and arrived at our hotel in Almaty at 6am sharp. We took a ride of about 40min to the base of a hill where we took a short 5-10min walk up to meet a special eco park vehicle. We passed a waterfall and the guide kindly helped us up to take pictures at the waterfall. After another 10min drive on the special vehicle we have reached higher up in the mountain where the big lake Almaty is. It was so beautiful like a scene out of a movie. Lovely views.

Big Almaty lake was very beautiful. We just went there to take some photos, then went to some waterfalls but I couldn't go further because I didn't have the proper boots for it. Either way, I think it was a nice experience! Elnar, our guide, was very friendly, helpful, and kind 😀

Having taken the tour around Almaty with Gulzat, I can easily say was one of my favourite memories during my travels here. For anyone who is scrolling through all the different options to go to Almaty Lake or anywhere else, don't even bother looking at the others - this is easily the best one you can book, so just go for it. Gulzat is very flexible and knows a lot about the country and places, but also is very friendly and accommodating. We left for our tour in the morning and everything was smooth, pick up at my hotel, the car is comfortable and spacious, the driver is great, and the stops in between were thought out. At first when I was in Kazakhstan, I was deciding whether to go to the lake or the canyons nearby and chose the lake. However after visiting the lake in the morning with Gulzat, the experience was so good that I decided to also visit the canyons on the same day and she was able to sort everything out on such a short notice. On the way back she recommended a great place to catch something to eat, probably one of the best kebabs I have tried anywhere. If you are like me and spend ages going through the different options on Tripadvisor, as my first visit here and not knowing much - for a hassle free, fun time, book a tour with Gulzat and you will have total peace of mind. Gulzat is quite possibly the best tour operator I've experienced in the world. I purchased the half day Big Almaty Lake tour with her. The itinerary was carefully planned and well balanced, in particular as my mother is a senior citizen. She was transparent from the beginning and answered all my questions patiently plus provided all the necessary information in excellent English. We arrived during the busy Eid holiday and despite a peak time for sightseeing, the trip was perfectly timed with safe cars and drivers. During the journey, she provided deep historical and cultural insights on Kazakhstan and even the neighboring countries. I enjoyed Big Almaty Lake thoroughly, which is undoubtedly the jewel of the country. On the return, I forgot a souvenir in one of the cars and she arranged to have it return before my flight.
