It was our first time ever going hiking & it was a great experience. I would definitely recommend it.
Our guides were incredible and it was great to have one experience in La Fortuna that showed us so much. The food we had in between tours was one of the best we had all trip. Our favorite part was the volcano hike... be aware of the steps going down to the waterfall : )
Genuinely amazing. No words. Emanuel was perfect. He knew what felt like everything. He could spot animals and plants that seemed so hidden. We saw, heard, touched, and experienced nature in a way none of us had before. Everytime we ended one portion, we were so surprised by the time. It just felt like we had forever to explore everything. We learned about the history of La Fortuna, ate delicious food and fruit. We ran through rain, hiked through heat, and would do it all over if we could. For SURE worth every penny! And please don't forget to tip!
It was a rainy day in La Fortuna but we had a great experience on this tour. We saw a lot of wildlife and the guides were great!
Such an amazing experience!! You really get your money’s worth. Our tour guide was named Emmanuel and he was incredible!!!
This is no fault of the company but we happened to go when there were horrible downpours and flooding. Half of the tour was cancelled. The water level rose quickly and was a bit scary. Unfortunately, we had to wait an hour on the bus to even get off of the road from the waterfall. After that, the hike around the volcano was cancelled. We were able to still go to the hot spring which was surprisingly nicer then I thought it would be. I am sure on a different day or time of the year it would be an amazing trip. Our day just wasn’t what we were expecting.
Unfortunately the weather did not cooperate, however our guide was excellent and went above and beyond the entire day
This was a really great tour for the money . It is alot packed into a day but its not rushed .Emanuel was a great guide he is full of knowledge and alot of fun. The lunch was delicious and after all the stair climbing you will really work up a appetite. Also big thank you to Emanuel for helping everyone get amazing pictures ! I would definitely recommend 10/10
Franklin and his team from Red Lava Tours gave us an unforgettable day. First, we went to the Arenal Waterfall, where Franklin safely guided us, as it was slippery in places due to the rainy season. We had enough time to take photos and enjoy the overwhelming nature. As a reward after the strenuous ascent, he served us freshly cut pineapple. After an educational visit to an indigenous tribe, we received a hearty and delicious lunch. Rejuvenated, we were ready for the hike up the Arenal Volcano. Here, Franklin provided us with a lot of information about how the volcano works and the nature surrounding it. The path led through wonderful nature and lava fields to a fantastic viewpoint where we again had plenty of time for photos. To conclude, we went to relax in the hot springs. The day was thus very diverse and entertaining, especially because Franklin made this tour something truly special with his competent, funny, and warm-hearted manner. Contrary to the advertisement stating a group size of 12 people, we were 26 until lunch, which was only split for the volcano hike. However, due to the good organization, this did not significantly impact the experience. Many thanks to Franklin and the whole team for this unforgettable day! Pura Vida, Sandra & Simone
Wow this was a great experience! Our guide, Carlos, was so knowledgeable about the plants, animals, and sights we saw. He stopped at beautiful view points and always offered to take pictures. While traveling between activities, we stopped many times for wildlife. They were so good at spotting it! Carlos would put his scope perfectly on the animal and offer to take pictures for you. The included lunch was very tasty! The hot springs at the end were a nice added touch. Would definitely recommend this tour!
