L'expérience Hell's Gate

It was an awesome and fun experience. We did the walk around, carving and the mud bath. Mud bath was very nice and relaxing and then finishing it off in the Sulphur hot bath was amazing.

Was really good. Loved the experience and the mud bath and thermal spa areas were really nice and well organised. Would definitely recommend. I debated between this and the Polynesian spa and very happy we chose the kid bath experience.

An excellent place to visit - the geology is interesting and plenty of geysers to observe. There is a bush walk with a waterfall as well which is very pretty. The woodcarving activity is a nice touch as well, and taught well by a member of staff. The mud baths are great - good fun slathering yourself in warm mud, and then a choice of 2 hot spring baths to relax in. Good value for money - highly recommend a visit.

Wonderful mud bath and geothermal springs experience! We rented the swimsuits and towels- the sulphur smell is dominant but not deterring. Just hard to get out of your own swimsuit! We loved the mud bath that the operators put our group of four in by ourselves. Then moved to the hot springs pool with a cold plunge option. There are small waterfalls in two pools to sit under, very relaxing! Lovely staff and from the US, found it to be reasonably priced! Thank you for a lovely, relaxing experience!

We had a great time. It was a new experience for us. The staff were friendly and helpful. The springs were awesome to walk around. We enjoyed the carving shed. The mud bath and thermal spa were very relaxing. We were told not to wear jewelry as it would tarnish. Be careful though, I had a shower and washed with soap before I put my silver cross and chain back on, but the following morning it was black with tarnish. Also use old swimmers as you won’t get the smell out of them. We binned ours. A great experience though that I would do again.

Have always wanted to try the thermal pools at Rotorua, do not miss this one!!!! Our guide Lilly was a wealth of information, complete with a few joke’s thrown in, for someone so young, she really knew her stuff. The geothermal pools were amazing, a little stinky but the mud made your skin feel so soft. The cold plunge pool was a little chilly, (it’s winter 🥶) but well worth it. The sulphuric water in the other baths have no time limit, and the benefits to your skin are instant. It’s a 10/10 for us, even our 18 year old daughter changed her mind and went in the mud, and she was adamant that she wouldn’t be going in.

This is well worth it From start to finish. Kyla at the reception greeted us with a welcoming smile. She is friendly and helpful and explained how the things work. The mud pool are great with once again great staff(friendly). This place is a must do. AA+

We had the best day, we joined the 10.30am guided tour. Our guide “with the very long name” 😜 made the tour so much fun and was very knowledgeable. Topped up with a yummy snack before trying some wood carving! We then enjoyed a mud bath followed by a soak in the hot sulphar pools overlooking the geothermal valley. So glad I didn’t book anything else that day, we spent the whole day here! Our guide, the check-in staff and the ladies serving us lunch were all so friendly and helpful 🤗

Complimentary pick-up and drop-off service available from the center of Rotorua. The water temperature of the mud hot spring was slightly lukewarm, and it was not enough in the rainy weather, so I was grateful for the slightly higher temperature. Cold water hot springs were too cold to enter because the mud hot springs did not warm us.
