Kutaisi: visite guidée des téléphériques de Chiatura et du pilier de Katskhi

Faites une visite guidée depuis Kutaisi pour explorer les joyaux cachés de la région d'Imereti. Visitez le pilier Katskhi, un monolithe calcaire de 40 mètres de haut surmonté d'une église. Le prochain arrêt sera la ville minière de Chiatura, autrefois numéro 1 dans l'exploitation minière du manganèse, et réputée pour son système de téléphérique unique de l'ère soviétique, installé dans les années 1950 pour transporter les mineurs et les résidents de haut en bas des collines escarpées. Croyez-le ou non, mais jusqu'à aujourd'hui, les téléphériques constituent l'un des principaux moyens de transport public pour les habitants. Les anciens téléphériques ont été remplacés par des nouveaux, mais vous verrez certains des anciens téléphériques, également appelés « cercueils volants », accrochés aux lignes abandonnées. Vous monterez à bord d'une nouvelle télécabine Chiatura et vous vous sentirez comme un local pendant un certain temps. Vous apercevrez des monuments et des mosaïques soviétiques disséminés autour de Chiatura, ainsi que des bâtiments résidentiels soviétiques typiques. Après une promenade à Chiatura, continuez jusqu'au couvent de Mghvimevi, creusé dans la roche. Dans la soirée, retour à Kutaisi.

Le pilier Katskhi est spectaculaire à 40 m. haut rocher avec une église au sommet. Il y a rarement une chance de monter, car le moine y vit en permanence, même ses frères ne communiquent avec lui qu'en apportant de la nourriture et avec l'aide de la corde. Vous pouvez prendre des photos à couper le souffle du pilier sur le chemin ou depuis le parking. Cependant, il y a une église et un monastère au rez-de-chaussée. La visite n’est donc pas très longue, mais elle en vaut vraiment la peine.
Chiatura est une ville industrielle très importante de l'ouest de la Géorgie, c'est l'une des principales mines de manganèse. Elle est également extrêmement célèbre pour ses téléphériques, construits dans les années 50 comme moyen de transport pour les mineurs. Vous ferez un tour sur l'une des nouvelles lignes.
Avec le guide, vous ferez une promenade à Chiatura, en profitant de son architecture spécifique, vous marcherez jusqu'à l'une des anciennes stations du téléphérique.
Visitez le couvent creusé dans la roche.
Retour à Kutaisi

The Guide Sandra was really nice and gold me alot about the Soviet Mining History and the History in General of Chiatura She also told me about how Georgian people live nowadays, the Struggles, the way of life. and it was really interesting! This was a great day tour, definitely recommend. The route was perfect- there was lots to see and explore without too much time spent traveling between locations. It was refreshingly slower-paced despite including many notable sights which was great because we saw a lot without feel rushed. Content consisted of a lovely mix between history, views, culture, and religion. We especially liked that this tour allowed us to see and appreciate many things that we wouldn’t have otherwise. Our guide was welcoming, approachable, attentive, and knowledgeable. Her driving was *excellent* and we felt fully safe and comfortable with her behind the wheel. We actually did 2 tours with Megobari and loved their overall vibe; while still very professional and organized, there was less of a “corporate” feel and more of a warm, personal feeling.
We enjoyed this day trip with different kinds of stops very much! It was a good mixture between landscapes, architecture and history (from soviet times as well as before). It was also very interactive, as we got to ride on the old and new cable cars of Chiatura. The tour guide was very kind and told us a lot of interesting facts about Georgia! Thank you!

An interesting excursion that will appeal to fans of history, religion and technology, full of beautiful views. Guide knows what he's talking about. The small van we were travelling in was quite cramped (but the train to Chiatura is currently not running, so there is no choice). Keep in mind that you may get muddy, so choose appropriate clothing.
Very attentive guide, perfect to discover this little piece of paradise through the old cable car dating from the Soviet Union in particular
