Cette visite spéciale à pied nous emmène sur les traces de John Wesley. Loin des foules habituelles et des hauts lieux touristiques de Londres, nous nous promènerons dans certaines des parties les plus historiques de Londres romaine, médiévale, géorgienne et victorienne. En cours de route, nous visiterons la maison de John Wesley et la chapelle voisine, ainsi que d'autres sites historiques lors d'une visite de 3 heures incluant des lieux où Wesley prêcherait en plein air, où il serait allé à l'école et où sa conversion aurait eu lieu. la maison de John Bray. La visite visitera également un certain nombre de belles églises anciennes, des parcs et des ruines ainsi que d'autres lieux d'importance religieuse. Vous n'avez pas besoin d'être méthodiste pour apprécier cette tournée. Celui qui veut s'éloigner des sites touristiques très fréquentés pendant quelques heures et suivre les traces de l'une des personnalités les plus renommées de l'histoire appréciera sans aucun doute la tournée méthodiste de Londres une bonne affaire.

Nous visiterons la chapelle et la tombe de John Wesley avant de nous rendre chez John Wesley.
John et Charles Wesley, George Whitefield et d’autres ont prêché ici et dans la région de «Moorfields». Wesley a organisé des réunions et a rendu visite aux convertis. Ainsi commença la société méthodiste en Angleterre.
Samuel Annesley, le père de Susanna Wesley, a été expulsé de cette ancienne église en 1662.
John Wesley a épousé Molly Vazeille, une veuve, en 1751. Peu de temps auparavant, il était tombé au sol et s'était foulé le pied. Il a été transporté ici chez les Vazeille et a passé une semaine en convalescence, soigné par Molly.
Dans les jardins verdoyants de St Paul, nous verrons la statue de John Wesley qui commémore les occasions où il a prêché dans cette magnifique cathédrale.
Le père de John Wesley, Samuel, a été curé ici pendant un an. Une fenêtre de John Wesley prêchant sur le terrain à Moorfields et une plaque sur des balustrades commémorent les conversions évangéliques de Wesleys.
Ce magnifique parc "secret" contient un magnifique mémorial victorien au sacrifice de soi héroïque.
Nous visiterons le site de la maison de John Bray. Une plaque marque l'endroit où John et Charles Wesley ont été hébergés en 1738/9. C’est là que Charles a été converti le 21 mai 1738 et John a déclaré «Je crois» à 22 heures le 24 mai 1738.
Le lieu où Braveheart a été exécuté.
Nous allons passer par plusieurs monuments, dont celui de la révolte des paysans et l'endroit où des anglicans ont été brûlés sur le bûcher.
La dernière chaire anglicane mise à la disposition de John Wesley, qui a continué à prêcher ici longtemps après qu'il eut été bloqué contre d'autres églises de Londres.
Nous verrons des sections de l'ancien mur romain et les ruines d'un vieil hôpital de près de 1000 ans
Devenue la demeure d’un merveilleux orchestre de Londres, St Luke a été consacrée en 1733. La paroisse de cette église incluait la John Wesley’s Foundery Society, qui a établi la communion ici.
Ce lieu de repos incroyable pour les non-conformistes est le lieu de repos de la mère de John Wesley, Susanna, décédée le 30 juillet 1742. D'autres, comme William Blake et Daniel Defoe, sont ici.
John Wesley a fait ses études à la Charterhouse School 1714–2020 et nous visiterons l'ancienne église sur place.

I feel like I could have been in London on Easter. My life-changing experience has happened to me today! As an American United Methodist I went to England to see the Wesleyan sites to gain a greater understanding of my UMC roots. John Wesley inculcated the many converts with sobriety, clean living, hard work and piety. And including this Wesley College undergraduate too! I was very surprised by famous "Christ the Lord Is Risen Today" hymn associated with Easter written by Charles Wesley. “Jesus Christ is risen today” it brings together the two great themes of Holy Week and Easter, the Cross and the Resurrection and celebrates the message of Holy Week and Easter – Christ crucified and risen. I am truly blessed! Happy Easter!

We absolutely loved our tour! Despite Covid closures, our wonderful guide gave a tour we will always remember. Stephen was punctual, friendly and never made us feel like we were on a tour, more that he was a friend showing us interesting things he had discovered. We learned so many interesting facts about parts of London we would never have found or understood on our own, as well as showing us so many sites about John Wesley, the founder of Methodism. Kevin met us at our hotel and helped us navigate the tube system for the first time! He is a wealth of information and knew the best shortcuts to find significant Wesley sites. We took in a few “on the way” attractions including the Roman Wall and a rooftop view of London near St Paul’s. None of our questions were treated as inappropriate and were answered with a smile.
