Description
Voyagez en jeep dans les montagnes du Troodos, avec la possibilité de voir la beauté de la nature sauvage de Chypre et de visiter le sanctuaire principal de l'île, le monastère de Kykkos. Sur le chemin de Troodos, nous visiterons le deuxième plus grand barrage de Chypre - Asprokremos, ainsi que l'un des quatre ponts de l'époque vénitienne - Chelefos. Nous dégusterons les vins, visiterons la magnifique cascade de Chantara et sur le chemin du retour, nous ferons une halte pour nous baigner à la "pierre d'Aphrodite" où, selon la légende, la déesse de l'amour et de la beauté est née et est allée à terre.

Le barrage d'Asprokremmos est le deuxième plus grand barrage de Chypre. Il est construit à une altitude d'environ 100 m au-dessus du niveau de la mer. Il est considéré comme une zone humide importante pour les oiseaux endémiques et migrateurs
Certainement le pont le plus connu de l'île. Sa popularité est due au fait qu’il s’agit du plus grand pont de pierre jamais construit à Chypre et enjambe la rivière Diarizos. Trouvé dans une zone de végétation verte riche, la zone forestière qui l'entoure est magnifique et possède divers sites naturels à explorer.
La cascade de Hantara tire son nom du mot «anatra» qui signifie «bruit de l'eau». L'eau de la cascade tombe violemment d'une hauteur de huit mètres en roulant sur le gavro, qui est l'un des principaux rochers de la région et formant à sa base un petit étang. Situé au milieu de la campagne, il est entouré d'arbres, de platanes, de lierre, de pins, de chênes dorés, de sumac, d'arbousiers, de ciste, de sauge et de lavande, offrant aux hôtes de merveilleux parfums.
L'Olympe, ou Chionistra, à 1 952 mètres, est le point culminant de Chypre. Un radar britannique à longue portée fonctionne actuellement au sommet du mont Olympe. En hiver, possibilité de neige élevée. Station de ski ouverte en janvier, février
Le monastère de Kykkos est l'un des monastères les plus riches et les plus connus de Chypre. Le Saint Monastère de la Vierge de Kykkos a été fondé vers la fin du XIe siècle par l'empereur byzantin Alexios I Komnenos
C'est une destination populaire pour ceux qui aiment le vin fait maison, se promener dans les rues anciennes, visiter les maisons rurales traditionnelles qui ont été transformées en musées et acheter des objets d'art et d'artisanat originaux (par exemple, bijoux en argent, objets en verre, dentelles, bonbons et célèbres bretzels d'Arkatena). L'attraction principale du village est le monastère de True Cross, qui abrite un morceau de la Vraie Croix ainsi que d'autres reliques.

We saw a bunch of different sites which was neat. Tour guide gave us a decent amount of time to explore each site. I wish we had had more time to explore the beach at the end though — would’ve been nice to see the sunset til the end. The reason this tour gets 4 stars instead of 5 is bc the vehicle was not comfortable. It’s a jeep but the back is two long benches so you’re facing the other half of the group at all times. You basically bump around the back (though there are pipe things above so you can hold them) the whole time as well — it’s particularly rough on the off-road parts. There’s nowhere to lay your head if you want to doze between sites. Would be better if they had small buses or split us into actual jeeps or something.

All day trip in a 10 seat Land Cruiser. Interesting ,amusing driver/guide, Phil. Wonderful panoramic views. beautiful forest roads , twisty, rockstrewn tracks all handled with great skill .

Great day out and not too hard going if your fitness level is a bit low. We were taken to beautiful locations with rich history, good food and delicious wines! Was outside at the meeting point, one jeep came for another family from our hotel and told us we would be the next ones. Waited and waited but nothing came. As stated in the email, we called the jeep company as it was over 10 mins late. No answer from them. Called the tour operator who eventually got in contact with the jeep company. I was then told the jeep company messed up and we weren’t down on the list at all! We had waited outside for 45 mins to then be told no one was coming and we were offered a change of day or excursion to which I said no as we go home on Friday. To say I’m not happy would be an understatement. I have been told my refund will arrive in a few days but it doesn’t make up for the fact that we had booked this tour to explore with our children who are now extremely disappointed.

Great trip, bad communication by tour company. Delayed start as no name of the company collecting me was provided. After checking with several jeeps turning up at my hotel one driver helped by calling the third party tour company. After waiting 20 minutes past my collection time I was picked up and did have a very enjoyable day visiting lots of sites. One simply thing in providing the details of who I was waiting for would have helped get the day off to a much better start.

It was an alright trip overall. However, for my taste, we spent a bit too much time at places that seemed more like “partners” of the safari, such as the winery, the food stop, and the village. The dam was also a very mild start to the day, with not much to see. Also, be prepared for the jeep experience. While we saw several vehicles with regular forward-facing seats, ours had us sitting facing each other, which got a bit uncomfortable during the longer drives. The guide was friendly, but I didn’t feel like we experienced each stop to its fullest. After chatting with another couple, it turned out their tour included more interactive moments, like stopping at banana plantations, picking fruit, and learning fun facts. Compared to that, our tour felt like the bare minimum or just slightly above it.
