La plage de Patong est le véritable cœur de Phuket et son principal point d’intérêt pour beaucoup de monde. Elle est grande, animée, bondée, ensoleillée et bruyante. Des millions de personnes y affluent chaque année. Si Bangkok est la « Grosse mangue », alors Patong est le « Gros durian » : vous allez l’adorer !
Karon est l'un des points de vue les plus fréquentés de Phuket. De là, on peut admirer les plages de Kata Noi, Kata Yai et Karon. La visite au coucher du soleil ne passe pas par Karon. Situé entre les plages de Nai Harn et Kata Noi, ce point de vue est très fréquenté la plupart des jours de l'année et est un incontournable de nombreux circuits touristiques. Appelée « Khao Saam Haad » (colline des trois plages) par les locaux, la municipalité l’a officiellement renommé « Karon Viewpoint ». Il est situé au sud de la plage de Kata Noi et donne directement sur la mer d'Andaman, mais la plupart des touristes pointent leur appareil photo vers le nord et la vue impressionnante de huit kilomètres sur les trois plages de la côte ouest en arrière-plan.
Parmi les nombreux temples de l'île de Phuket, le temple Wat Chalong est le plus grand et le plus vénéré. Ce complexe a été construit à son emplacement actuel en 1837. Des vestiges de structures plus anciennes ont été trouvés, mais on ignore leur âge exact. Le vaste domaine de Wat Chong, officiellement appelé Wat Chatararam, comprend un wihan, un mondop, un ubosot, un chedi contenant une relique secrète, un sala et un crématorium.
La visite d'une usine de noix de cajou à Phuket est un incontournable pour les amateurs de ce type de noix. La noix de cajou est un produit natif cultivé à Phuket et dans d'autres provinces du sud de la Thaïlande et qui y est relativement bon marché par rapport aux prix pratiqués dans les pays occidentaux.
La ville de Phuket comprend un quartier historique. Les principales rues de la vieille ville de Phuket sont Thalang, Phang Nga, Krabi, Dibuk et Yoawarat. La statue est toujours en construction, grâce à des dons de particuliers. Si vous avez envie de contribuer à la fin de la construction de sa base, vous pouvez financer un morceau de marbre blanc à hauteur de 300 à 1 000 bahts selon sa taille.

Gree (tour guide) and Chai (driver) gave us a memorable tour of Phuket. Gree was professional, personable and knowledgeable. He took pictures of us throughout the day so we can relive those memories. Besides the beautiful sites, we had a good experience at the cashew and gem stops.

We ad a lovely day with Yoh. She was fun, good energy, and very knowledgeable. We went to several lovely lookouts on the west coast of the island, checked out the big bhudda (mostly closed due to landslide), cashew factory, the temple at wat chalong, and old town phuket.

Our guide was Ada and Taitai was our driver. Ada spoke excellent (if fast!) English and gave explanations for everything we saw and answered all our questions. She came prepared with scarves to cover bare shoulders at the temple which was appreciated. Taitai provided chilled water and towels during the journey. The temple and Phuket old town were our favourites. However the visit to the gem ‘factory’ was not offered as an option, we were just taken there, and personally I felt pressured by the salesperson to look at all the jewellery on sale and to buy something. Nevertheless we had an educational and enjoyable tour.
