Our food tour with Dan was hands down the absolute highlight of our trip to Hanoi! If you want to experience the real Hanoi through its food, you have to book a tour with him. Dan took us down the hidden alleyways of the Old Quarter to spots we would have never found on our own. We tried everything from the most incredible, crispy Banh Xeo to a life-changing bowl of Bun Cha, and finished with the famous Egg Coffee (which tasted like heaven in a cup!). Every single dish was an absolute flavor bomb. What made the day truly special, though, was Dan himself. He is incredibly knowledgeable, passionate, and his English is flawless. He didn’t just tell us what the food was; he shared the fascinating history behind each dish and gave us a genuine glimpse into daily life in Vietnam. It felt less like a formal tour and much more like hanging out with an old friend who happens to know all the best food spots in town. We loved the pacing of the tour—Dan made sure we had plenty of time to sit, chat, and actually digest before moving on to the next delicious stop. The view at the Train Street was the perfect cherry on top of an already perfect afternoon. Tip from a traveler: Do not eat breakfast before this tour, bring an empty stomach, and definitely wear your most comfortable walking shoes. Thank you, Dan, for such a wonderful, authentic experience and for your amazing hospitality. 10/10 highly recommend to anyone visiting Hanoi!

We had a great day today with Dan. It was juat the 3 of us, which was like our own private tour. Dan was fantastic taking us to many places in Old Quarter to try vietnamese foods from Bah Mi, Pho to Banh Tom. We have lots of vietnamese in Melvourne but you must try the original! Dan was extremely well spoken, happy to answer all of our questions, walked at a great pace so we could digest between meal stops and enjoyed showing us proper vietnamese food and places he enjoys. It was lovely to get to know about his life here too. Train st was a favourite (considering theres really nothing like it where were from) followed by qumquat tea. Highly recommend. Make sure you wear comfy shoes and are ready to eat!!
