Votre visite de Bar Harbor commence sur la jetée par le parc Agamont, où vous trouverez un grand parking. Bar Island Trail est un sentier pédestre totalement unique. C'est un sentier de banc de sable menant à l'une des belles îles de Bar Harbor, mais il n'apparaît qu'à marée basse ! Si vous êtes ici au bon moment, c'est une promenade positivement magique.
Le quartier historique de West Street comprend des rangées de maisons historiques à couper le souffle, toutes datant de 1870 à 1910. Ici, vous apprendrez à identifier celles qui sont les plus anciennes !
Construite en 1902, La Rochelle est un domaine tout simplement époustouflant. Cet énorme manoir a 41 chambres et une tonne d'histoire. Il appartient maintenant à la Maine Seacoast Mission Society, qui a acheté la propriété pour seulement un dollar.
Construite en 1878, cette structure emblématique a à peine survécu à un immense incendie qui a balayé Bar Harbor en 1947. Aujourd'hui, elle continue d'accueillir les visiteurs comme un confortable bed and breakfast !
C'est une église qui doit simplement être photographiée. L'impressionnante maçonnerie, l'imposante tour et les magnifiques fenêtres ne demandent qu'à se retrouver sur Instagram !
L'église épiscopale Saint-Sauveur est une curiosité architecturale originale. Cette église a été construite en plusieurs sections, les parties les plus anciennes datant de 1877 et les plus récentes des années 1930. Le résultat final est une structure étrangement attachante et totalement unique.
Cette bibliothèque historique date de 1877. À l'époque, elle ne comptait que 250 volumes, presque tous donnés par les riches habitants de la ville. Depuis lors, cette petite collection n'a cessé de s'agrandir.
Le musée Abbe célèbre l'héritage des autochtones Wabanaki. Aussi connus sous le nom de Peuple de l'Aube, les Wabanaki vivaient à Bar Harbor bien avant qu'il ne devienne Bar Harbor. Le fondateur du musée, Robert Abbe, a voulu honorer cette longue histoire, et le musée présente maintenant des expositions couvrant 12 000 ans d'histoire autochtone dans la région.
Le parc du village de Bar Harbor n'est pas n'importe quel vieux parc. Il a été conçu par Beatrix Farrand, qui a également conçu la roseraie de la Maison Blanche ! Il comprend une horloge de rue de 1896, un kiosque à musique historique et une fontaine dans le style des fontaines italiennes du XVIIe siècle.
Balance Rock est un point de repère inhabituel qui repose juste à côté du Shore Path. C'est un erratique glaciaire, ce qui signifie qu'un glacier l'a traîné très longtemps avant de le déposer ici. On estime que ce rocher a parcouru environ 40 milles avant de s'installer à Bar Harbor !
Autrefois le site d'un manoir de l'âge d'or, Grant Park n'est plus qu'un espace vert agréable au bord de l'océan pour le plaisir de tous. Si vous cherchez l'endroit idéal pour pique-niquer, c'est ici !
Le Bar Harbor Inn est une station balnéaire avec une histoire très longue et compliquée. C'était autrefois une salle de lecture où les riches résidents de Bar Harbor discutaient de littérature et des affaires du jour. Aujourd'hui, il a été transformé en l'un des hôtels les plus somptueux de la ville. Votre visite se termine juste après cet hôtel, juste à côté de la jetée où elle a commencé.

The audio tour worked well until we got near the end (points 22 and 23). At that point there was no longer any narrative and not even any message saying this concludes your tour.

We actually really enjoyed the audio tour. It is an easy walk with several places to stop and shop or have a meal or a drink. It was well priced, and I would highly recommend it.

It wasn't clear to me that there wouldn't be a person or a desk to check in with. The harbor master said lots of people show up at his office based on the apps map of starting location abd he has no knowledge whatsoever of the company ... inside the pier shops are other tour desks who have never heard of this company. We spent half an hour stumbling around, going to the Visor Information desk downtown who knew nothing either ... then got within like sto #3 and the audio started playing off the app on my phone.
