This tour is not worth your while. We booked specifically since we were visiting Trivandrum and wanted to know more about its history and culture. Our guide did not confidently speak English, despite booking an English tour. The guide was not sufficiently knowledgeable to lead a heritage tour, often simply pointing out items along the route: ‘this is a theatre, they perform music here’, ‘this is a museum, that’s the ticket office’. On one occasion, the guide even asked me to take a photo of zoo signage directing visitors to various parts of the park. Perhaps sensing our disillusion, the guide then asked why we’d even booked the tour and seemed disappointed by our lack of prior cultural knowledge. He then proceeded to explain how he offered another, spiritual tour, perhaps expecting us to agree to that instead. Also, instead of volunteering information, I had to prompt the guide, by asking for historical or spiritual context. Later, we entered the public library, where the guide led us through various rooms, prompting us to explore the books. I then stepped in and reminded him, that libraries work the same way across the world, and that we’d come to see Trivandrum and its eccentricities, so it would be a better use of time to focus on those. Please note, the tour splinters near the end, with the option to explore different parts of the city, according to your choice. We decided to end the tour there, having completed the full two hours and felt disappointed. We’d spent over an hour in the park which was a significant waste of time. At times, when I tried to engage with the guide and ask follow up questions, I was met with ‘I don’t know’. You could easily visit each of the sites noted on this tour yourselves, since you don’t gain anything by booking this. The guide sent various links to videos and other sites of interest via WhatsApp after the tour (albeit 5 hours after it had ended) however, it would be much more interactive, had he incorporated these into the tour itself, instead of spamming me with messages (to the extent I had to block them). The tour could also be improved by using images or maps to back up his descriptions.
Great tour with Suresh! It ended up being a solo tour as I was the only one! Suresh explained everything in great detail and with enthusiasm for his city. Learned a lot.
Gokul was a very attentive and knowledgeable guide. Entering a small Hindu temple was special- seeing the key parts of the majestic Padmanabha Swamy temple was the highlight. Going late afternoon to dusk makes this more enjoyable. Would recommend this walk.
I had a really great experience with Sureshkumar in Trivandrum. Even though I was the only guest that day, he still warmly received me and took very good care of everything. He is very nice and patient, and even accompanied me for shopping. Along the way, he explained a lot about the local culture, places, and daily life, so I learned many new things. We also went to eat together, which made the whole experience feel very genuine and comfortable, not rushed at all. He is very informative, friendly, and easy to talk to. Thanks to him, I got to understand Trivandrum much better. Really thankful for his time and kindness — highly recommend him as a guide.
Amazing tour and tour guide. He was nice with going with the flow but with his own agenda in it. Making sure we had a great time.
We had a walking tour with Hareesh Das and it was absolutely fantastic. He learned us so much about Indian heritage, we had amazing conversations about life and his humour and generosity and patience made our tour perfect. It was one of our best days in India so far!
Enjoyed the walk. Although a bit too much of walking but worth the time. Being the only guest for the tour helped me with proper detailing and stories
Siddaharth is a very knowledgeable, competent and empathetic guide. We spent two hours together strolling through the city of Trivandrum visiting the major historical points of interest. He welcomed me with kindness and guided me with interesting explanations in English through gardens, historic palaces, monuments, library and market. We were able to communicate in English despite having some difficulty showing great empathy towards me and passion for their work. Thank you Siddharth for the great Chaimilk enjoyed together at the end of the route and for the time spent together, I could not wish for a better Welcoming for my first trip to India. Namaste, Joan
A very easy visit between places of worship and monuments. A way to learn more about the local culture, observing what you encounter while walking. The Hareesh guide was professional, fun, and helpful to any information.
A brief and detailed insight during the 2 hour walking tour. Good to arrive in Trivandum . Mr.Siddartha told us some special features about India and Trivandum . It was very entertaining. Thank you
