Fondé au Xe siècle, le complexe du monastère de Sanahin coïncide avec la période de la dynastie Bagratuni. La première église, Surb Astvatsatsin, a été construite en 51. Le monastère possède cinq églises, une bibliothèque, un clocher, une académie et une tombe royale. En passant, la plus ancienne académie d'Arménie est située ici. Avec Haghbat, Sanahin a été parmi les premiers à être inclus sous la protection mondiale de l'UNESCO.
Haghbat est situé à proximité de Sanahin et est un vaste complexe monastique avec de nombreuses églises et édifices religieux et laïques. La première église, Surb Nshan, a été construite en 976. La plus grande bibliothèque d'Arménie se trouvait à Haghbat, où il y avait une façon spéciale de stocker les livres. Ils étaient placés dans les trous, et le vin était placé avec eux à l'état ouvert afin que l'humidité ne gâche pas les manuscrits. Haghbat a été un centre important de l'histoire, de la culture et de l'éducation arménienne pendant des siècles.
L'église nommée d'après sainte Mariam Astsvatsatsin du complexe du monastère d'Akhtala est la plus grande de la région parmi les églises nommées d'après la sainte vierge. Avec ses fresques, son architecture et ses sculptures uniques, ce monastère est depuis des siècles un centre spirituel pour les Arméniens et de nombreux autres peuples. Sur le territoire du complexe du monastère se trouvent l'église Saint-Grigor Lousavoritch, bain souterrain, palais royal et d'autres bâtiments. En raison de l'abondance de cuivre, la localité a été nommée Akhtala, d'où le monastère a été nommé. Akhtala est l'un des lieux historiques et culturels uniques avec son passeport, un document en forme de khatchkar, dans lequel il est écrit que Mariam, la fille du roi Kyurike, a fondé le monastère.
L'église Odzun, située dans la province arménienne de Lori, est une basilique du VIIIe siècle construite à l'origine au IVe siècle, remarquable pour ses caractéristiques architecturales uniques et ses sculptures complexes. Il constitue un site culturel et historique important, reflétant le riche patrimoine chrétien arménien et attirant les visiteurs grâce à son éclat artistique et au cimetière antique environnant.
Le château d’Aramyants est l’un des monuments les plus beaux et les plus importants de Lori. Construit dans le style chalet suisse, il fait partie des rares châteaux survivants en Arménie. Autrefois résidence d'été luxueuse, elle est également devenue un lieu d'une grande importance nationale - la Déclaration de la Première République d'Arménie a été adoptée ici.

Today I once again experienced a very informative and competently guided tour with Anahit (guide) and Flat (driver). We visited AKHTALA MONASTERY, ARAMYANTS CASTLE, HAGHPAT MONASTERY, SANAHIN MONASTERY and Odzun monastery, which was outside the program. Since we were seven travelers (from Armenia, someone from the USA and me from Switzerland), Anahit suggested this to us and we were very excited about this extraordinary opportunity. I have taken a couple of tours with this travel agency, and I loved all of them. The quality of the services provided is high, the treatment is very good, and the scenery is stunning. This trip to the Lori region really showcases the natural beauty of Armenia and its rich and ancient culture. The road to each of the locations is very smooth and absolutely beautiful as we travelled through the mountains. We had enough time at each location to take a break and look around. There were enough facilities (shops and washrooms) around for basic needs. Our guide Knarik Harutyunyan was so helpful, kind, funny and energetic, and she provided us with all the necessary historical information about each location. She also takes great pictures!!:))) Also the driver was very helpful, and I felt safe in the car during the trip. I absolutely loved this trip organized by One Way Tour! PS: I highly recommend to have Armenian coffee at the beautiful location in Mendz Er! The view is amazing!!

A well thought-out and organized tour where I saw many unique landscapes and monastery complexes while meeting nice people! Karmela has declared very committed and enthusiastic and has a great background knowledge that she is happy to pass on. Not only have I learned a lot about monasteries, but also Armenia in general. I was lucky that it was a mixed Armenian-international tour group, so beautiful scenes were created, such as spontaneous lessons in Armenian dances during a tea break.
