Au cours de cette visite, vous explorerez les lieux, places et bâtiments les plus importants qui représentent encore les symboles de la forte domination des Habsbourg sur ce territoire. Port maritime prospère de la région méditerranéenne, Trieste est en effet devenue la quatrième plus grande ville de l'empire austro-hongrois (après Vienne, Budapest et Prague). La visite à pied débutera au port de croisière de Trieste, d'où vous commencerez votre promenade vers la magnifique Piazza Unità d'Italia ("place de l'unification italienne"), avec sa vue imprenable sur la mer et ses anciens palais. Vous visiterez ensuite Borgo Teresiano et apercevrez la Piazza della Borsa et le théâtre dédié au célèbre Giuseppe Verdi. Promenez-vous sur le pittoresque Canal Grande et continuez votre visite au Tergesteo jusqu'à atteindre les élégants Palazzo Gopcevich et Palazzo Scaramagnà. Entrez sur la Piazza Ponterosso, le cœur de l'ancien Borgo Teresiano et parcourez la Via San Nicolò.

This highlight helps to get familiar with walking in Trieste. Trieste is a walkable city but taking this tour helps to get familiar with the many narrow streets.

My late mother was born in Vienna, so I am interested in all history pertaining to the Hapsburg Empire, which is why I chose this tour. I was not disappointed. Esther was a wonderful guide. I had just come off of an escorted group tour. By coincidence, Esther was also the guide for a walking tour of Jewish sites of interest in Trieste that I had with my group tour three days earlier. The two walking tours complimented each other nicely.

Can I give more than 5 stars? After oversleeping and missing our pickup time, this gentleman contacted me to see if I wanted to just go later than the original plan. That worked out perfectly because we were in the process of walking to the pickup point to see if we could see a group that we could join up with. I found out we had booked a private tour, so he modified the schedule to see whatever we wanted within the time we had left. We only had a short time in Trieste to explore what the area has to offer. I'm very glad we booked this tour with Faberest and would highly recommend them.
