Small group, very personal service, great simple tour outside Bern where you visit several spots. Our tour guide Steve was excellent. He provided us with great information and conversation and we learned a lot about Switzerland. He made a great suggestion for lunch, gave us free time to explore on our own, and offered to take pictures of us at the tour stops. Highly recommend this tour and Steve as a guide.
My family loved all of the interesting facts about cheese making in Gruyères. The interactive tour was obviously geared towards children, but we all really enjoyed it (our daughter is 21). We watched the cheese being made in real time. The town of Gruyères was charming and we enjoyed the self guided castle tour. We had lunch at Chalet de Gruyeres and it was the best fondue we’d ever had. Then it got even better! The self guided audio tour at Caillers chocolate factory was really impressive. It was interactive and very informative, from the harvesting of the cocoa beans in Africa (and the way those farmers are treated) to their relationships with the dairy farmers, to the last step of packaging the final product. The taste testing was a big plus for us - so many to try, and so delicious!
Really fun trip - we had the guide to ourselves, and when we did not spend a whole lot of time in the chocolate factory, got a bonus visit to a winery! The town of Guyeres was really fun - the castle was excellent, as was the the H.R. Geiger museum. Would absolutely recommend
tour was a great day for us to relax. tourguide took us to cheese factory, where we visited the exhibition at our own. Got transferred to the town on top of the hill, where we had lunch and time to visit the castle. Arrived to chocolate factory after lunch for sweet tasting. Finally the guide showed us a great spot along the lake. Over all it was a relaxing day for us with free time at the sights, which was great not to follow a group all day long.
The town is great. So much to see, to do. Lots of places to eat, to stay. You have museums, the HR Giger museum, the castle. There's so much going on in a relatively small place The cheese factory gives you some insights for the typical cheese from Gruyere. In the afternoon we went to Cailler chocolate museum, which is really worth it. You can taste all chocolate there. Tourguide made it comfy for us, transfers are short and Michael gave us a lot of interesting background infos.
Mike was a perfect, knowledgeable host/guide, and the two main venues were fun and interesting. We also stopped along the way at a few scenic photo stops of the beautiful Gruyère region, which very much enhanced the whole experience.!
My mother and I met Christoph at the train station in the morning and headed out for our day. He guided us easily through the efficient Swiss transportation system first to Gruyere with its cheese factory and lovely town and then on to Maison Callier for a very thorough tour of the chocolate factory. All the while, Christoph provided information about the area and answered our many questions of life in Switzerland. We had good conversations, and he was very attentive and helpful with my 80-year-old mother. It was a very entertaining and educational day.
Thank you for your review and happy you had a great time.
We took the Castle + House of the Gruyere pass for 17Chf per person. The visit of the House of Gruyère is well thought out and fun. The Castle is easy to do also and is pleasant, some artifacts throughout the visit are very appreciable.
Thank you for your review and happy you had a gread day.
we travelled by train to the cheese factory (which is nice to see). Best was the time we spend at Gruyères and our guide Roland gave us the possibility to explore it at our own. The chocolate factory was crowded but our guide had pre-booked slots and we tasted a lot of chocolate. Can recommend it, as we had a lot of free time for us and were not forced to be with the group all the time, even there were just two others with us.
Thank you for sharing your experience. We're happy you could enjoy it and we are doing all our tours in this style: have some free time for you as most people don't want to have the tourguide all the time with them.
Such a delightful and delicious day! Exploring the medieval town of Gruyères felt like stepping into a fairytale. The visit to the cheese factory was fun and informative (and tasty!), and the Maison Cailler chocolate experience was the perfect sweet ending. Our guide kept everything relaxed and well-organized. A must-do if you're in Bern and want a mix of culture, history, and Swiss treats!
