If you are looking for fine traditional food and want to learn something about Greek culture then look no further! And what a great guide Dora is!
We enjoyed our food tour with Sarah. We went on a Wednesday so it was a market day and lovely to see all the fresh produce. We enjoyed visiting some of the stalls/shops in the market and sampling their products. It was great to also visit some of the small shops in the old town and try the different breads, cakes, meats and coffee. We particularly enjoyed the bakery and honey shop and the lovely owners to learn something about their families and businesses. We were glad to have skipped breakfast as there are many stops along the way and the tour finishes in a lovely taverna where you have a choice of plates. Sarah was a great guide, enthusiastic, energetic, friendly, and clearly interested in her town and region. There is also opportunity along the tour to see various places of local interest and to learn something of the history and traditions of the town. Overall a great introduction to Kalamata.
A wonderful selection of food with a delightful tour guide. Dora shared personal stories that helped us better understand the city and its heritage, all while introducing us to some really wonderful places to eat. This was time very well spent.
Sarra was brilliant and a big part of why this review is 5 stars. She is knowledgeable, funny, kind and very patient. The food we tried was great but one of the best things was seeing small businesses that have been passed down through the generations. Fascinating stuff. The food we tried was either excellent or interesting. The information was fascinating and this was just a great experience. We particularly enjoyed the olive oil and honey shop in the market. The lemon lady was inspiring and her produce has led to my husband buying a commercial lemon juicer. I really liked the lady in the bakery and her produce was sensational. We had a 7 month baby and it worked ok with her. Again Sarra was great about this.
The tour was so nice and we've seen wonderful places Sarah has shown us around. Great to meet that old generation business still alive taken over by young people. Food was so delicious, the choice of a big variety of different flavours and tastes was just perfect. We met so many kind and interesting people. And: Sarah is a great guide with a deep knowledge, it was very informative for us and we had also lots of fun! Highly recommendable !
Dora was wonderful and full of local knowledge about Kalamata. Food was good. Unfortunately only two on the tour and not a market day.
Beautiful food tour through Kalamata. The paths between the stations are extremely short. The stations were well chosen. The vendors on the tour are well-prepared and extremely friendly. Wonderful 3 hours enjoying Greece. Our questions about the country and its people were all answered competently.
We had a fantastic day with Sarah. The small local shops selling products ranging from meat to cheese and olive oil to wine have given us an insight into the rich food culture Kalamata has. Moreover, Sarah was a pleasant hostess who did everything to provide us with a great experience. Thanks for everything!
We really enjoyed our tour with Dora, she is a wonderful tour guide with lots of knowledge about the Kalamata area. I would recommend this tour opportunity to anyone wanting a knowledgeable and friendly tasting tour of the area.
It was a wonderful foodtour with Sofia today. She was not only letting us try the best of Kalamata, but she was also a story teller, she was sharing how every shop came to be. Every place we went to had a piece of history and you will be visiting shops that have been running for some generations already. We recommend everyone to join this tour, it is a nice and authentic way to get to know Kalamata and visit the best places. Also very important, join the tour with an empty stomach! Haha
