Nous utiliserons une voiture privée / un minibus privé (selon le nombre de personnes rejoignant la visite) pour rejoindre la réserve nationale de Gobustan. Au musée de Gobustan, vous obtiendrez des informations générales de votre guide et explorerez la vie des anciens habitants de Gobustan à travers des écrans interactifs et des expositions. Après avoir visité le musée de Gobustan, vous avancerez vers la montagne afin de voir de véritables peintures rupestres dans le musée en plein air. Les pétroglyphes (gravures sur pierre) situés à Gobustan sont aussi importants que les grottes Chauvet et ont été laissés intacts pendant des millénaires jusqu'à leur découverte dans les années 1930. Vous aurez la chance d'assister à ces gravures préhistoriques, y compris des images d'anciens habitants qui semblent danser une danse tribale !
Plus tard, la visite se poursuivra dans la région des volcans de boue qui se trouve à 20 minutes du musée national de Gobustan. L'Azerbaïdjan conserve la première place au monde pour le nombre de volcans de boue. Environ 300 volcans de boue se trouvent en Azerbaïdjan - sur le rivage, dans la mer et sur les îles. Au cours de ce voyage, vous aurez une grande chance de voir ces volcans rares et actifs de très près. Certaines personnes ne jurent que par les bienfaits médicaux de la boue, alors cela vaut peut-être la peine de l'essayer sur votre peau ! Note importante: Pendant les saisons humides / conditions météorologiques pluvieuses, les volcans de boue peuvent être très boueux et impossibles à atteindre en voiture. Par conséquent, en cas de temps pluvieux ou de mauvaises conditions routières, le voyage vers les volcans de boue sera remplacé par une visite à la mosquée Bibiheybat sur le chemin du retour vers le centre-ville.

Amazing tour with Shahin. He was so knowledgeable about the whole area including how and why the mud volcanoes exist. He also knew a lot about the Gobustan rock art which was fascinating. Our driver also made sure we found some Azerbaijani saffron at a small spice shop to take home and had a good recommendation for dinner.
They picked us up exactly on time. They drove safe. Very communicative. They understood exactly what we wanted and behaved accordingly. Verder satisfying.

I had an amazing day with our guide Seymur and our driver. There was only one other person on the tour, which I think made everything go a bit smoother for the day. We first went to the mud volcanoes which were really impressive. We needed to transfer to a 4x4 because of the road conditions and the mud. I would highly advise boots/wellies in the autumn/winter as they suggest when booking, which I clearly didn't see! I had comfortable walking shoes (these were great for the rest of the tour) which were completely caked in mud by the time we were done at the volcanoes - but it was definitely worth it! We were provided bags for our shoes, but I wasn't able to keep mine on properly when sinking into the mud (and lost my shoe once or twice). We were helped to clean our shoes before transfering back to the original vehicle. I should also note, there is another option that is not off-road at all and you are able to stay clean, away from the mud, but we wanted to get up close to the volcanoes! Next we went to the Gobustan Museum where we learned about what Gobustan was like hundreds of thousands of years ago (covered by the sea) and what it's like now. We also learned about the animals and people that used to live in the area long ago - as well as all of the petroglyphs in Gobustan. Finally, we went to see the petroglyphs which ranged from 40,000 years ago to just a few thousand years ago. I would highly recommend this tour!

Booked the small group, and it was only me, which was great as I could do it all at my pace. The tour guide arif was a lovely guy and was able to answer my questions. Overall, I enjoyed visiting both sites, each unique in their own way. I would recommend this tour.
