Le Grand Sphinx de Gizeh est l'un des monuments les plus emblématiques d'Égypte et du monde. Il s’agit d’une statue en calcaire avec le corps d’un lion et la tête d’un homme, censée représenter le pharaon Khafre (constructeur de la deuxième pyramide à Gizeh). Le Sphinx mesure environ 73 mètres de long et 20 mètres de haut, ce qui en fait la plus grande statue monolithique du monde antique. Il est orienté directement vers l'est, vers le soleil levant, et était considéré comme un puissant gardien du plateau de Gizeh. La statue a plus de 4 500 ans (datant d'environ 2500 av. Le nez et la barbe manquants sont des mystères célèbres – la plupart des historiens pensent qu’ils ont été détruits à des périodes ultérieures.

We had an incredible experience visiting the Giza Pyramids. Seeing these ancient wonders in person was unforgettable.
