L'ancienne ville fortifiée de Gérone se dresse sur une colline aux allures de forteresse, surplombant le confluent de l'Onyar et du Ter. En tant que capitale provinciale, elle possède une longue et prestigieuse histoire. Fondée par les Ibères, la ville fut plus tard rebaptisée Gerunda par les Romains, qui en firent une étape importante sur la Via Augusta, reliant l'Ibérie à Rome. L'immense cathédrale du XVe siècle, qui possède la plus large arche gothique sans contrefort au monde, domine l'horizon ; pourtant, une grande partie du charme de la ville réside dans la découverte de ses ruelles médiévales, notamment autour du charmant quartier juif. Vous pourrez traverser l'Onyar en empruntant le pont construit par Gustave Eiffel, le « Pont des Poissonneries Velles », l'un des monuments les plus populaires de la ville. Cette visite approfondie (d'une durée d'environ 3 heures) vous fera découvrir les monuments les plus importants de Gérone, son histoire, son patrimoine juif ainsi que ses légendes. Ona was our tour guide, very friendly and informative. There was only the two of us booked on this tour so we were able to have some good conversations about the history around Girona and some general Catalan and Spanish culture. The tour was a great start to our short stay in the city and helped really get a feel for the history and significance of the City and get our bearings for exploring ourselves the rest of the evening and next day.
Pau was a wonderful guide who took his time and provided a very informative introduction to Girona.

We made a city walk in Girona with Neska as a guide, she uses her Ipad to show how it used to be compared to now, she speaks good English and because we were the only 2 of the group she could also answer questions we asked, had nice conversations and finally had a drink with each other
