We liked this tour but it does take quite a bit of your time. From the pick up at our Buenos Aires hotel it was a two hour drive out to the estancia. Our driver was good and was of English descent so understanding him was no problem. He was not however terribly forthcoming with information or history. Since this was a long drive, it would have been nice to have more commentary (just a helpful hint). We arrived at the estancia, and it was quaint, built in the 1880's, and surrounded by cooling trees. Our greeting was abit perfunctory as we were shown the bathrooms, given a glass of wine and an empanada. We were then left to our own devices for what seemed a long time. After other guests arrived we were offered a horse ride, which was a walk around the property, or a ride in a one horse carriage, which was interesting if a bit bumpy. We were then all served an asado on the covered patio surrounding the main house. The food was good with fresh salads, carrots and corn dressed with olive oil followed by the expected meat courses of sausage, beef rib, and beef steak (no lamb or chicken). The wine that they served was good and there was plenty of it. The entertainment that followed was the highlight with live music and traditional dancing, even inviting the several guests to join in at one point. This was followed by a "horse Whisperer" demonstration by one of the Gauchos that was very good and then it was back in the car for the two-hour drive back. Overall, not a bad tour but we wish that there had been more commentary and education about the birds around the property, the gaucho life, etc., especially for the price. I would only take this tour if you had done most of the others first and had the time and money to do this one. Also, it would rush you to get to the airport if you took this tour on the last day. Hopefully some of these comments will be helpful to the tour operators.
David, Thanks for joining us and for your detailed review. This will help us to make some adjustments. And sorry about not warning you in advance about this possible situation of two hours ride. Just to let you know that the delay in the transfer happen but as an exception. As you experienced it is a 115km ride: 110 in a highway and just 5km of dirt, and sometimes there is more traffic and also your hotel is in the South part of the City while the Estancia is leading North, so you need to go through the almost entire City. In average the trip from a hotel in Buenos Aires to the Estancia is about 90 minutes. Sorry but as the population of the City of Buenos Aires is 12 million people, it takes some time to get out of the City. Have a great visit to Argentina. Cordially, Guillermo and Team Arecobus
Beautiful ranch, great food and service! Our guide Jose was fantastic! We rode horses, ate delicious empanadas and Argentinian asado and also enjoyed great entertainment.
Alberto was an excellent driver and tour guide. The employees on the ranch were so welcoming and made our experience wonderful. We enjoyed the asado and the entertainment, especially the horse taming.
Our driver from the hotel to the Gaucho Day and back to the airport. Was the best part. He was informative and very helpful. Watching the Gaucho and how he handled his horse was so beautiful. He had such a bond with the horse
One of the top things we did in Buenos Aires. If I were to do it again I would spend the night. Service was fabulous. The food was delicious and the estancia it self is old with a lot of character.
Loved how nice the people were about being a newbie rider. From pick up at our Airbnb to time we were dropped off we were very well taken care of. Lovely place. Would recommend highly!
Excellent day for enjoyment of a typical Argentinian BBQ and hospitality. Local entertainment with visitor participation. Gentle horse ride for non riders.
The Staff was super efficient in communication in advance and made an effort to arrange things as good as possible. The estancia we visited was very beautiful, genuine and well-maintained. Everyone was kind and eager for us to have a great time. If you have horse riding skills, you can ask them to arrange a better horse to do some extra galloping around the fields. The horses are amazing! Juan, the “horse whisperer’, was like nothing I have ever seen before: complete control over a horse with just a gentle touch and his voice. Service and food were excellent, the estancia: a dream. I’m eager to go back and spend more time there. Asado was perfect, one of the best BBQ meals I had over 6 weeks traveling in Argentina. Highly recommend!
Hi Cwhitle, Thanks for your time writing about the Tour! We really appreciate your company here in the Estancia and thanks for being so nice with everybody here. Looking forward meeting you here in the Pampas next time. Cordially,
