Le site archéologique d'Umm Qais offre aux visiteurs une chance d'explorer une riche tapisserie de l'histoire. Théâtres romains : Les ruines de deux théâtres romains constituent un point fort non négligeable. Le théâtre principal (occidental) est imposant, avec sa construction en pierre de basalte noir. Rue Colonnaded : Une rue à colonnades bien conservée, le Decumanus Maximus, met en valeur l'urbanisme romain de la ville. Terrasse de la basilique : Cette zone contient les vestiges d'une église byzantine construite au-dessus d'un mausolée romain antérieur, démontrant la longue histoire de changement religieux et culturel du site. Musée Umm Qais : Situé dans l'une des maisons ottomanes restaurées, le musée expose des artefacts des périodes hellénistique, romaine et islamique. Vues panoramiques : L'un des aspects les plus fascinants de la visite d'Umm Qais est le paysage à couper le souffle. Du haut de la colline, vous pouvez voir la mer de Galilée, la rivière Yarmouk et le plateau du Golan occupé par Israël.
Le château est situé sur une colline au-dessus de la ville d'Ajloun dans le nord-ouest de la Jordanie, à environ 75 km au nord-ouest d'Amman. Une structure fortifiée : La conception originale du château comprenait quatre tours principales et un fossé. Les agrandissements ultérieurs ajoutèrent d'autres tours et une porte avec un pont-levis. Vous pourrez explorer les différentes pièces, couloirs et escaliers qui composent l'intérieur labyrinthique. Le musée : Un petit musée à l'intérieur du château abrite une collection d'artefacts de diverses périodes de son histoire. Vues panoramiques : L'un des aspects les plus enrichissants d'une visite est la vue panoramique imprenable depuis les créneaux du château. Par temps clair, vous pouvez voir la vallée du Jourdain, la mer de Galilée et les collines boisées environnantes.
Jerash est un vaste site archéologique qui nécessite des heures d'exploration, avec des routes principales reliant les attractions clés. Arche d'Hadrien : Grande porte à triple arc honorant l'empereur Hadrien. Hippodrome : Une gigantesque arène romaine pour les courses de chars, pouvant accueillir 15 000 personnes, parfois utilisée pour des reconstitutions. Oval Plaza : Un forum ovale emblématique entouré de colonnes ioniques, utilisé comme marché. Cardo Maximus : La rue principale à colonnades de 800 mètres avec dallage original et ornières de roues de char. Théâtre Sud : Un théâtre romain bien conservé pouvant accueillir plus de 3 000 personnes, toujours utilisé pour les spectacles et les festivals. Temple d'Artémis : Dédié à la déesse patronne de la ville, avec d'impressionnantes colonnes corinthiennes. Temple de Zeus : Temple perché offrant une vue panoramique sur les ruines et la ville. Nymphée : Une grande fontaine publique avec façade ornée et canaux d'eau, mettant en valeur le système d'eau de la ville.

The three sites are most impressive, there is no need to mention that. Our driver Moe was really helpful all day, smiling at our little delays. What really helped us where his many personal and inside-stories about Jordan and the "normal" things about the Jordan people. Moe shared these during the transits from one place to another, thus filling each minute with an authentic local experience. Thank you!

We had an absolutely amazing day tour to Umm Qais, Jerash, and Ajloun Castle, and a huge part of that experience was thanks to our driver, Shadi. From start to finish, he was professional, friendly, punctual, and incredibly knowledgeable. Shadi made the journey smooth and comfortable, shared interesting insights along the way, and always made sure we were relaxed and enjoying ourselves. He never rushed us and was very attentive to our needs throughout the day. On top of that, he gave us excellent local recommendations in Amman, especially for the best pomegranate juice spots and high-quality perfume shops, which truly added a special local touch to our trip. Saed contacted us prior to our excursion to give us details about pick up etc. He picked us up right on time and drove us to Um Qais first given the times. It was so much more than I expected and a really long walk through old ancient ruins. We could have arranged a guide (would need cash for) but we opted to do it ourselves. Saed always said "this should take around x minutes/hours to visit and meet me here when you are done" He also was clear that we could take more time if needed, but we wanted to be on time to make sure that we could visit all 3 sites, which didn't disappoint. It was quite windy for our visits but the sun warmed us and it felt like Scottish summer! We next visited Ajloun castle, a crusader's castle, that had significance for christians and muslims. From both sites, you could see the Syrian border, which was picturesque. Next, we visited Jerash and had opted for the guide, which was worth it! This reminded me of our visit to Ephesus, with still so much to find but so much to see that is still standing. Jerash was our favourite site, and I highly recommend seeing it! Lunch was fine, it had a great view from the terrace.

We had a great day with our driver Eltif, he was very patient and caring, very good driver. We had a delay because of our fault because we left our hotel late and we were slow in some stops. It wasnt his fault at all

I highly recommend the driver Adnan , He came to pick us up at the hotel on time , following an error booking a visit on our part , he knew how to be professional and find a solution quickly. Its vehicle and clean and offers free wifi. His conduct is professional. Adnan is a very nice person who explains a lot about architecture and remains. I sincerely recommend this driver, he speaks English very well.

Take a look at ancient civilization buildings. Although the Gerash site is slightly depleted due to the ancient times, it is still impressive to clearly feel the scale and sophisticated technique of ancient Roman architecture.

Despite the heavy winter showers, we still managed to see all of the listed sites. We were picked up at 7:30am to avoid some of the Amman traffic. We got to Umm Qais in around 2 hours, then to Ajloun castle, before heading for lunch. It was 12 JOD for the buffet and 15 JOD for the bbq meal option. We later arrived at the Jerash ruins, which was best with a tour guide as the area is quite big. The whole day was well organised, and was still very good despite the showery weather. Our driver, Abdallah, was great throughout the day, and was very safe driving.
