La Porte de l'Inde est un monument en forme d'arche construit au cours du XXe siècle à Bombay, en Inde. Le monument a été érigé pour commémorer le débarquement du roi-empereur George V et de la reine-impératrice Mary à Apollo Bunder lors de leur visite en Inde en 1911. Construite dans le style indo-sarrasin, la première pierre de la Porte de l'Inde a été posée le 31 mars 1911. La structure est une arche en basalte de 26 mètres de haut. La conception finale de George Wittet a été approuvée en 1914 et la construction du monument a été achevée en 1924. La Porte a ensuite été utilisée comme entrée symbolique cérémonielle en Inde pour les vice-rois et les nouveaux gouverneurs de Bombay. Elle servait à permettre l'entrée et l'accès en Inde.

We got a great car and walking tour of the must see spots in Mumbai. Our guides showed us several things not in guide books. They knew about the architecture and history of well known landmarks as well as some obscure gems. Later in the day we visited elephanta caves. Manoj was our guide and he was extremely knowledgeable regarding the history of the caves. We learned about each sculpture, things we would not have picked up on without someone to show us. In addition, he knew all the cool spots to catch a break from the heat. We really enjoyed the tour and highly recommend him as a guide!
