Itinéraire
La journée commence par notre passage à votre hôtel entre 7 h 30 et 8 h 00, à bord d'un minibus. Il faut être patient, car la circulation peut parfois poser problème, mais ne t'inquiète pas, on viendra te chercher quoi qu'il arrive. Nous prendrons également d'autres voyageurs.
Un spa naturel et riche en minéraux Contrairement aux cônes volcaniques qui crachent de la lave, El Totumo est un volcan de boue, c'est-à-dire une fissure dans le sol qui rejette en permanence de la boue mélangée à de l'eau et du gaz provenant des profondeurs souterraines. Dimensions : Elle est petite, mesure environ 15 mètres de haut et est accessible par un escalier en bois. La boue : La boue est très visqueuse, chaude et riche en minéraux tels que la silice, le magnésium, le calcium, le soufre et le fer. On attribue à cette composition des propriétés exfoliantes, détoxifiantes et thérapeutiques pour la peau et les muscles. 2. La sensation de flotter Ce qui est le plus fascinant, c'est la densité de la boue. C'est tellement épais qu'il est impossible de couler. Lorsque vous descendez dans le cratère, votre corps est naturellement maintenu en suspension, ce qui procure une sensation étrange et merveilleusement relaxante d'apesanteur. L'expérience Les visiteurs montent les escaliers jusqu'au sommet, descendent dans le cratère (qui ne peut accueillir qu'une dizaine à une quinzaine de personnes à la fois) et s'immergent dans le bain de boue flottant.
Si vous décidez de prolonger la visite, vous vous rendrez dans un club situé en bord de mer, doté d'installations qui vous permettront de profiter de la plage et de l'ambiance locale.

- Pourboires et communauté locale : La communauté autochtone de ce village dépend entièrement de l'activité touristique liée au volcan. Il arrive souvent que les habitants vous proposent de vous aider à porter vos affaires et vous demandent ensuite un pourboire. Le pourboire doit être laissé à votre entière discrétion. Pour simplifier la procédure et éviter les sollicitations, nous vous recommandons vivement de gravir le volcan sans aucun effet personnel : portez simplement les vêtements dans lesquels vous comptez vous baigner dans la boue.
- Massages et gommages : Une fois à l'intérieur du volcan, des habitants proposent des massages. Veuillez indiquer très clairement si vous souhaitez ou non bénéficier de ce service de massage et d'exfoliation.
- Service de nettoyage : À la sortie du volcan, un groupe de femmes de la région vous proposera de vous débarrasser de la boue qui recouvre votre corps dans un lac naturel. Si vous ne souhaitez pas utiliser ce service, vous pouvez bien sûr faire le ménage vous-même.
- Frais supplémentaires : veuillez noter que toute aide que vous recevrez, qu'elle soit proposée par le guide ou non, entraînera des frais supplémentaires.

The mud bath experience was great. The tour guide was nice and friendly. I gave a 3 star rating because of our unpleasant experience with the local people asking for tips from each family member for each unsolicited little service they do. We said NO to massage and NO to touching. They asked 10 pesos (3 USD) for taking a few family photos but each family member had to pay the 10 pesos, mandatory. 10 pesos each for giving you a hand while getting out of the pool which was unnecessary, unsolicited and unexpected. 10 pesos for carrying your slippers down to the river when getting washed off, which we said we need to have and wear our slippers because it was too hot to walk down to the river barefooted. They refused to give us our slippers back, this was also mandatory so they can ask for money to carry them, when we really need to wear them for comfort. We feel like the tour company was telling us to pay the 10 pesos each service/each person whether we take the service or not. We understand the need to give a tip but it was the way they do it is what got me. They touch you or carry your slippers without being asked and there you go…you pay 10 pesos! That was the unpleasant experience we had otherwise we enjoyed the mud bath.

We had an amazing time with our driver Jesus and travel guide Ninche. However once it was over we were bombarded with the staff aggressively telling us we need to pay them tips not even giving us the opportunity to. Besides that it was a good mud experience. I would do it again
