It was one of the best trips of my life. The people were all so friendly and had lots of interesting things to tell. I enjoyed the nature and the silence so much. Everything was so clean and the boat wonderful. It was very interesting to listen to Ma'am of 74 years who made all these things, ropes, mats and tapioka chips by hand. Thanks to Baboo and Chendre (moon) for giving soft velocity to our boat and thanks to Meera for everything 🤗

The trip was wonderful. Mr. Shahjahan and Ms. Mira were very good hosts. The pick up car was clean. The backwater boat and the open canal punting boat were in good condition. The Ammaji explaining the village activities was also very nice.

I wanted to get an impression of the backwaters without spending a whole day there (raining season!). For that purpose this tour proofed to be ideal. It started with a car rede to Poothotta village in Kotayam, where we were picked up by a comfortable boat (without motor) and our charming guide Meera. During the one hour upstream trip we enjoyed the tranquil landscape. We stopped at a local house where an old woman showed us the art of making ropes from coconut fiber as well as waving roofs from palm leaves. Then a small boat took us further into one of the smaller channels. Once back in Poothotta, we were served a traditonal Kerala Sadya meal, consisting of boiled rice and a number of vegetarian curries (some of them really spicy 🌶️) served on a banana leave. Luckily, there was no rain during the entire boat trip. At 14.30 I was back at the hotel. A perfect day with a short, but authentic experience in the less frequented backwaters.
Hi, Peter. Thank you so much for your wonderful review! We’re delighted that you enjoyed an authentic glimpse of Kerala's backwaters away from the usual tourist crowds. It was a pleasure to welcome you to our tranquil village in Poothotta, and we're especially happy that Meera made your experience so enjoyable. Watching the traditional coir-making and palm leaf weaving, cruising through the peaceful canals by non-motorized boat, and ending with a traditional Kerala Sadya are all experiences we love sharing with our guests. We're also glad the weather was kind and the rain stayed away! Thank you for choosing Wilson Tours, and we hope to welcome you back again for another authentic Kerala experience. Warm regards, Stanley Wilson & Team
A very good experience of the Cochin countryside: a real houseboat minimally furnished for tourists with plastic chairs and, above all, a Western-style toilet, a very good restaurant meal that is a bit spicy but not too much (pineapple yogurt curry), a walk through a spice farm, and a stop at a maker of coconut fiber ropes and baskets. The day is well-paced with the various breaks; it is very balanced. The goodies to buy don't break the bank: a bag of chips for 50 rupees, a bag of spices for 100. The downside is the taxi ride from the hotel from Fort Kochi: 2 hours, including 1 hour and 30 minutes in unbearable traffic. But patience is well rewarded. The staff is super friendly.
Hi Bhamatif. Thank you very much for your wonderful review and for taking the time to share your experience. We are delighted that you enjoyed the peaceful atmosphere, the authentic village life, the delicious local lunch, the spice farm visit, and the coir rope-making demonstration. It is also lovely to hear that our team's hospitality made your day even more enjoyable. Thank you as well for your valuable feedback. We are happy to let you know that we have now replaced the plastic chairs on our traditional punting boat with comfortable cane chairs, making the cruise even more relaxing for our guests. We understand that the road journey from Fort Kochi can sometimes take longer because of heavy traffic, especially during peak hours. We truly appreciate your patience, and we are glad the experience made the trip worthwhile. We hope to welcome you back to Kerala again for another memorable backwater adventure. With warm regards. Stanley Wilson and Team

Great experience with an amazing host! Viakom was such an offbeat location to do the backwater trip, it was like we had the entire place to ourselves. The house boat was super comfortable and the canoe ride was peaceful. The best part was getting to learn the rope making using coconut husk and the thatched roof with the leaves. A truly local experience. Meera have us so much information and was an absolutely wonderful guide. She also was so sweet to surprise my partner with a birthday cake as we were celebrating. You must experience this tour with Wilson tours.
