Unfortunately, just prior to our tour, we went to pick up our train tickets since our train was shortly after our walking tour was to end. We were unable to get them, even though I had my card and PIN number. Yuko spoke to the agent at the window AND an agent on the phone. She was so helpful. We got a late start, but ended up seeing a good bit of the area. Yuko was a great guide OUT of the train station also.
We’re glad to hear that, despite the delay, you were still able to enjoy exploring the area with Yuko. It’s wonderful to know she went above and beyond to assist you and make the most of your time together. We’ll be sure to pass along your kind words to her — she’ll be delighted to hear them!
I had a really nice tour with Ai Kim. She’s was very organized in the tour. She asked me what I wanted to see and was very helpful in giving me tips for afterward. She was a pleasure to have as a guide.
We’re delighted to hear that you had a wonderful tour with Ai Kim. It’s great to know she was attentive to your interests, organized throughout, and able to provide helpful tips for after the tour. We’re glad she made your experience enjoyable, and we hope to welcome you on another City Unscripted tour in the future!
Luis is a treasure. Great resource to understand Fukuoka and Hakata Culture. Bridging history, culture and the modern history of the city. Great walking tour which speaks to the soul of the place.
We're thrilled to hear that Luis made such a meaningful impact on your experience. His deep knowledge of Fukuoka and Hakata culture, combined with his passion for storytelling, truly brings the city to life. We're so glad the tour resonated with you!
You can find yourself saying WTF anywhere in Japan, but here the airport code is FUK so fun just writes itself. When I saw that my guide had lived in Fukuoka for 30 years and still retained a NYC flourish, WTF crossed my mind. Luis is fluent in English, Spanish and Japanese and is deeply woven into the community. I asked for a day of worthwhile places that I might miss and planning for the next few days. We did just that and enjoyed the city from sea and land while I learned about Fukuoka and how Luis ended up choosing to live here. During our walks we ran into folks that recognized Luis and said hello to us in all three of his languages! I followed many of Luis recommendations and came away feeling that he understood exactly the types of experiences I was seeking. If you are good he will get you a Brooklyn Burger if you are missing the taste of home. And like any New Yorker he knows where the good and bad are located so get yourself situated with a typical or different city intro. I can’t recommend Luis enough.
Although we met at a subway station a little out of town, Bruce was able to guide us back to the city and picked up a few great tips on the way
Wonderful guide who gave us history and cultural information. ARIF even helped us accomplish tasks like going to a bank, that would have been far more difficult without him. His world vision also was important for perspective and context. Would definitely recommend him!
The guide got sick. And we could not another time. So there was no guided tour. We only had a few days in Fukuoka and an extensive program.
Sumire from pre-tour was very timely in her response to my questions. She suggested a time change which worked out perfectly for us. She was in formative and very flexible. I would highly recommend her to any individual or group who wants a nice, informative tour. She is very knowledgeable.
Our guide Kenny was lovely. he was 30 mins early at our meeting point so we had extra time with him. He was honest when he ddnt know the answers to our questions. He took us to see the biggest wooden buddha in Japan and taught us the prayer rituals. then to the food stalls. Sweets before mains but thats fine by me. The ramen from the yatai's was delicious. We lingered too long talking and drinking at the yatai's that we were politely asked to fnish up. the boat tour by the river was romantic. best advise he gave us was the location of the "100 yen" sushi train. Oh my goodness! we went there the next day and had the best value for great quality sushi!
Thank you for sharing your wonderful experience! It’s great to hear Kenny’s warmth and honesty made the day extra special. From the wooden Buddha and delicious ramen to the romantic boat tour and the fantastic sushi train recommendation, it sounds like an unforgettable adventure. Glad you had such a memorable time!
The tour was nice. We were only in Fukuoka for a day so not much time to see a lot. Our guide took us to a local Ramon restaurant which was an eye opening experience. Walked around Fukuoka park which was a nice wind down after our flight from Singapore. Thank you very much.
Thank you for sharing your experience! We're glad your host made the most of your short time in Fukuoka, with highlights like the local ramen restaurant and a relaxing walk in Fukuoka Park. Sounds like a great way to unwind after your flight!
