It was beautiful. Tour and the. Guide Alex is excellent.
It was really fun all day trip to Saonan Island, Alex was amazing and the staff from the bus driver to the boat staff. Loved swimming on the sand bar with turqoise water . Will definitely recommend
Amazing tour, thw guide was just perfect in language and explaining! Very friendly team, absolutely recommended!!!!
Cristian and Rhuan were the best guides. I had a bad time during the walk and they did everything to help me, I felt very safe and supported. Not to mention the joy and affection with everyone on the walk! Super recommend!
Both trips were awesome, our tour guide at Saona was “papa Jose” he made our experience so great. I highly recommend both activities
Overall the package excursion was nice and for a decent price. What I didn’t like what the lack of clear details regarding exactly what would be done on each day of the excursion. For example, on the day of the ATV/Buggie experience, I was only prepared to get dirty. I had no idea we’d be stopping at Macoa Beach and the Cenote to swim so I had no attire to get wet in. Also, I had to put so much effort into finding out the transportation pickup times so I wouldn’t miss each day of the excursion. The exact departure times and location should have been provided to me in advance.
We did this on the 27th+28th June from start to finish it was horrible! They was massively late to pick us up on both days for a start. The soana island trip was absolutely horrendous, we first stopped off at a local cafe for around 40 minutes, no idea what the point in that was just time wasting. We then got back onto the coach to some park where you walked round for a good 45 minutes. Again waste of time. And then we got back onto the coach to bayahibe where we got onto a little boat into the middle of the sea and transferred onto a catamaran which was packed,no seats spare so everyone had to sit on the floor. This was a 2 hour journey. They tried to get 5 dollars per person for some pirate cap thing after putting them on everybodys head. Not a chance was we paying for that. When we reached soana island we transferred onto another boat which took us to the beach. The beach itself was horrible, blocks of rock just scattered all over the sand, many things stuck into your foot as you walked on the sand. The buffet was ok. After 1 hour 30 minutes we got onto a speed boat to the natural pool for 30 minutes which you got to see starfish. And then it was a quick journey back to the port where the coach was waiting for us. We got picked up at 6.40am and didnt get back to our resort until 6 30pm. Long day and not worth the money in our opinion. The next day was the Buggies. 40 minutes late to pick us up. When we got there we got put into 4 different buggies and eventually got back in the one we started off in. Half way through it cut out and wouldnt start back up again. So we got put into another buggie which had cracks in the seats and was practically falling apart. It had been raining the day before so getting covered in mud was pretty good (just about the only thing). The typical house was more like a hut and a shop. The cave was ram packed, you had to physically jump into the water and use a rope to get back up again. Not as nice as the excursion we did with TUI which we got took to the other cave which was a whole lot nicer. I dont recommend this trip at all, waste of money and a waste of time. Only advice we can give is always book through your travel agent, they give you the best.
Just better entertainment in the Dominicana! It was very fun and action! Highly recommend this great tour!
Day one was the Catamaran to Saona island. We had great tour guides! (They were like the fun uncles that would sneak you money and candy when your parents weren’t looking... except it was rum. So much rum!) The first stop was to a store, as is usual with any of these kinds of tours, they had cigars, samples of mamajuana, and trinkets. Next stop was the marina where you will board either a catamaran or speedboat. (You will do one there and the other back.) The catamaran was one heck of a party! Free flowing rum, music, dancing, it is a grand time! It stops in some shallows so you can jump off of the boat and do some swimming in the “natural swimming pool.” Back onto the catamaran and onto Saona, for beach time, a buffet if grilled chicken and salad, and more free flowing mamajuana and rum. A couple hours there then it was onto the speedboat back to the marina. Day two, buggies! They gave us the option of buggies or atvs when we arrived for no upcharge. They will, however, try to upsell you on taking a private tour for 60-75 more. We did the private tour and are glad we did. Lucas let us go at our own speed (which was fast, much faster than the tours we passed. We like to drive fast and spend more time at each stop.) There is a short stop to talk about the local agriculture and try to sell you some coffee, cigars and trinkets. Then onto the cenote. This is swimming hole in a cave, the water was warm and it was a ton of fun! Because we were on our own we could spend as much time there as we wanted. After that onto Macao beach, a public beach. Very clean, beautiful. Would definitely recommend doing either or both!
