Construit au début du XXe siècle en l'honneur de la culture du thé chinoise et importée au Brésil, le monument de Vista Chinesa offre un large panorama verdoyant de la zone sud de Rio. Le sentier a un accès facile et est entièrement pavé, menant au belvédère sur une montée raide et exigeante, mais il porte ses fruits avec l’un des plus beaux sommets de la ville!
À partir de 1856, le jardin botanique est relié à Alto de Boa Vista par une route en porte-à-faux ouverte par l'influence du baron de Bom Retiro et dont l'exécution et la maintenance ont été confiées à Thomas Cochrane. Il enregistre la chronique de l'âge où, dans ce travail, des ouvriers ont été employés "importés" de Chine (Macao) pour développer la récolte de riz, mais qui, n'ayant démontré aucune aptitude à l'agriculture, ont été utilisés pour construire la route. Cette région présente une étonnante coïncidence de la présence chinoise, commencée avec l’arrivée des planteurs de thé de D. João VI. D'après le Brésilien Gerson, après l'échec de cette culture, les Chinois se seraient répandus "à travers les couches de Tijuca". En 1844, une carte de la région enregistre un bâtiment appelé "Casa dos Chinas", probablement un vestige de cette expérience primitive. Cette "vocation" explique probablement pourquoi la mairie (le maire Pereira Passos, en 1903, avec un projet de l'architecte Luis Rey, en mortier copiant le bambou) a construit un pavillon appelé "Vista Chinesa", quelques années plus tard, être visité. Au-dessus, un lieu prêt à servir de lieu de repos aux promenades fréquentes de la famille royale a reçu le nom de table de l'empereur.
En 1860, le gouvernement impérial chargea l'ingénieur Job de Alcântara de construire le magnifique pont de pierre, au format d'arche romaine, qui se dressait devant le Taunay Cascatinha. La chute d'eau la plus haute du PNT est formée par la chute des eaux de la rivière Tijuca, de la rivière Conde et d'autres affluents. En 1817, l'artiste Nicolas Antoine Taunay construisit une petite maison près de la cascatinha et, enchantant, immortalisa la beauté de la cascade sur ses tableaux. Il est devenu le grand hôte de la forêt, organisant des réunions pour la cour. La maison de Taunay a été démolie en 1946. Sur le site, l'ancien restaurant Cascatinha a été construit. Il est en cours de préparation et de rénovation pour accueillir un café et un nouveau restaurant.
Le Parque Lage est situé dans le quartier Jardim Botânico, au sud de Rio de Janeiro, à proximité d'attractions telles que le Jardim Botânico et le Cristo Redentor. Avec une superficie de 52 hectares de forêts, l'espace est entouré par la forêt atlantique et fait partie du parc national de Tijuca.

A great spot for an quiet view of Rio. So many places in Rio to visit, this one is a bit of a hidden gem, worth the visit. Really enjoyed my time in Rio, one of the nicest and most interesting cities I have visited! Will return
Brilliant tour guide, very knowledgeable, great English, friendly and kind. Privet tour was very good he gave time to see things how we wanted without rush. Was a treat to see many different animals including monkey and birds. Definitely recomme.

The tour Tijuca Forest we visit the National Tijuca Forest by jeep, vista Chinese and Cascatinha Taunay Waterfall the guide Rafael Robaina very knowledgeable of history and driver Euclides the best driver even up and down those curves road was amazing outstanding and very knowledgeable of history and safe was first doing this trip. I highly recommend this tour. Just we had time to drip in water but weather was so good to take a drip. But tour was amazing. The church areas is higher than the Sugarloaf point. We Love it.
There is no zero stars allowed. We have used Viator a lot across the world and this is the first time that the tour operator did not turn up, message us or acknowledge our messages. I hope that all is well but my advice is simple - DO NOT BOOK THIS TOUR OR USE THIS OPERATOR! This spoilt our last day in Rio.
First all I am sorry for this inconvinience. I never had this problem in 10 years of work. I believe you have booked the tour for all 5 stars reviews you have read. Unfornatelly I had a problem with our google calendar that have changed your tour for other date, instead of the right one. It never happened before and We made changes in our system working now with two calendars. it is important mention that after explain you what happened by message we fastly have Refunded your money back. The tour was great. First a trip to Palácio - Parque Lage. Great place for photos with Christ the redeemer on the mountain behind. Then on to Tijuca Forest. Great waterfalls and wildlife. Best of all Ederson was great guide. Engaging and enthusiastic. He had great knowledge of the area and history. He was brilliant at ensuring we got the most from the tour and keen to notice what we were interested in and adapt to our needs. Would highly recommend Ederson - he made the tour great.

Great tour, Ederson made sure to show us all the parts of the rainforest and made sure we were comfortable! We got to see an extra waterfall that wasn’t on the original list. Highly recommend!

So move on! When I see the other comments they must have gone through an excellent guide because we saw nothing of what the others showed in the comments. We saw a waterfall and a view and were shown around a dilapidated building that supposedly is a museum. Don't waste your time!
My husband and I loved this 1/2 day tour. He was so knowledgeable and let us spend as much time as we wanted at each spot thru the Tijuca Forest. The highlights were Parque Lage ( he walked us through the awesome forest & had a drink in the gorgeous old mansion) , the Chinese lookout had the most amazing view and we got to watch about 20 monkeys swinging thru the trees, Emperor's lookout, and the Cascatinha waterfall were all so beautiful!! Our tour guide was such a great guy, we had a blast!!! 😊

This was a great trip. Ederson was a brilliant guide. Very knowledgeable and very pleasant. We visited all the main spots in Tijuca and also went to Parque Lage. Was lucky to see some Toucans as well. Highly recommend this tour and this company.
