Le baptistère Saint-Jean de Pise (italien : Battistero di San Giovanni) est un édifice ecclésiastique catholique situé à Pise, en Italie. La construction a commencé en 1152 pour remplacer un baptistère plus ancien, et quand il a été achevé en 1363, il est devenu le deuxième bâtiment, dans l'ordre chronologique, sur la Piazza dei Miracoli. La forme du bâtiment, le matériau utilisé, la répartition des espaces intérieurs donnés par les colonnes et l'espace entre les deux coupoles font que le Baptistère crée un effet incroyable de résonance acoustique, mieux connu sous le nom d'Echo. Le son se répand dans l'espace, comme une vague continue, montant en tonalité au point de suggérer la présence d'un chœur angélique. Toutes les demi-heures, le personnel du Baptistère fait une petite démonstration pour les touristes : l'effet est à ne pas manquer.

Admirez le clocher le plus célèbre du monde vu de l'extérieur, la Tour penchée de Pise, connue dans le monde entier pour son penchant à près de quatre degrés, résultat d'une fondation instable. La tour est située derrière la cathédrale de Pise et est la troisième plus ancienne structure sur la place de la cathédrale de la ville (Piazza del Duomo), après la cathédrale et le baptistère de Pise.
La visite comprend la Galerie de l'Académie où se trouve à l'intérieur le David, célèbre sculpture de Michel-Ange. David de Michel-Ange à l’Accademia en plus de l’œuvre de David, il y a aussi d’autres sculptures et une grande collection de peintures d’artistes florentins.
La cathédrale Santa Maria del Fiore (Visite de l'extérieur), avec sa belle coupole projetée par Brunelleschi, est la cathédrale de Florence. La construction a commencé en 1296, de style gothique sur un plan d'Arnolfo di Cambio et a été achevée structurellement en 1436, avec le dôme conçu par Filippo Brunelleschi. L'extérieur de la basilique est face à des panneaux de marbre polychrome dans divers sha DE de vert et rose, bordés de blanc, et a une façade néogothique élaborée du XIXe siècle par Emilio De Fabris.
Le baptistère de San Giovanni se dresse devant la cathédrale et est l'ancien centre religieux et civil de la ville, ainsi qu'un chef-d'œuvre du roman italien. C'est l'un des plus anciens bâtiments de la ville: il remonte probablement au Ve siècle, et a pris son aspect actuel aux XIe-XIIe siècles. De plan octogonal, il est recouvert à l'extérieur de marbre blanc et vert de Prato à motifs géométriques et possède un toit à huit pans ; la décoration s'est enrichie au XVIe siècle de statues et de bas-reliefs. Les trois portes en bronze doré sont l'œuvre d'Andrea Pisano (porte sud, construite vers 1330), et Lorenzo Ghiberti (nord, 1402/1425 et est, 1425/1452). La porte est, avec des Histoires de l'Ancien Testament, s'ouvre vers la Cathédrale et a été définie par Michel-Ange comme les Portes du Paradis; toutes les portes sont des copies, les originaux sont conservés au Museo dell'Opera del Duomo.
À côté de la cathédrale Santa Maria del Fiore se trouve le clocher conçu par Giotto (visite à l'extérieur). Le clocher de Giotto est le majestueux clocher de la cathédrale et l'un des chefs-d'œuvre du gothique Italien. Le clocher a une base carrée d'environ 15 mètres de côté avec des renforts d'angle qui s'élèvent jusqu'à la couronne horizontale en porte-à-faux située à une hauteur de 84,7 mètres.
La Piazza della Signoria est au centre de la vie politique de Florence depuis le XIVe siècle. La place a connu des événements historiques importants et de grands triomphes, comme le retour des Médicis en 1530. Les célèbres sculptures situées sur la Piazza della Signoria ont des références aux événements politiques de Florence. Le David (l'original se trouve dans la Galerie de l'Accademia) a été créé par Michel-Ange et positionné devant le Palazzo Vecchio pour symboliser le pouvoir de la République florentine en contraste avec la tyrannie des Médicis. Hercule et Cacus (1534) de Bandinelli symbolise plutôt la puissance physique de la famille.
Construit près d'un passage à niveau de l'époque romaine, le Ponte Vecchio fut jusqu'en 1218 le seul pont qui franchissait l'Arno à Florence. Au-dessus du Ponte Vecchio, vous pouvez voir une partie du magnifique couloir Vasari. Ce couloir, construit en 1565 par Giorgio Vasari, passe juste au-dessus des orfèvreries qui se dressent actuellement de part et d'autre du pont. Commandé par les Médicis, il leur permettait de se déplacer du Palazzo Vecchio au Palazzo Pitti sans avoir à traverser les rues de Florence, en toute sécurité. Au moment de la construction du Corridor, les boucheries sont rassemblées sur le Ponte Vecchio, dont l'activité perturbe probablement le passage des Médicis, qui en 1593 les font déplacer, les remplaçant par les orfèvreries plus « décoratives ».
Piazzale Michelangelo est le point le plus évocateur de Florence. De là, vous pourrez admirer toute la ville avec ses splendides monuments. Cette place était dédiée au grand artiste de la Renaissance Michel-Ange et la copie de David se trouve au centre de la place à côté des quatre allégories des chapelles Médicis de San Lorenzo.

★★★★★ Absolutely the Highlight of Our Trip to Tuscany! I almost canceled this excursion because of the long drive from Rome, and I am so grateful that I didn’t. It ended up being our favorite tour of the entire trip! Our driver, Artur, was outstanding. The ride was smooth, comfortable, and safe, and with a rest stop halfway both to Tuscany and on the return trip, the drive was much easier than expected. Our tour leader, Nariman, made the hours fly by. He is incredibly knowledgeable and shared fascinating history, stories, and fun facts throughout the journey that kept everyone engaged. He also proudly called himself the “best photographer,” and he absolutely lived up to that title! He happily took countless photos for everyone throughout the day and made sure we all had wonderful memories to bring home. Pisa completely exceeded my expectations. Pictures simply do not do it justice. The Piazza dei Miracoli is breathtaking, and every building is stunning. One of the most unforgettable moments was inside the Baptistry when our guide requested a demonstration of its incredible acoustics. A staff member stepped into the center and sang, and hearing her beautiful voice echo throughout the building gave me chills. It was one of the most moving experiences of our entire vacation. Florence was equally amazing. Before we even arrived, Nariman made restaurant reservations for us so we didn’t have to waste our free time waiting for a table. That thoughtful gesture allowed us to enjoy over two hours exploring this incredible city. Our Florence guide, Luis, was fantastic. His passion for Florence, its history, and Michelangelo was obvious in every story he shared. He didn’t just recite facts. He brought the city to life and made us appreciate what we were seeing so much more. The perfect ending to an already incredible day was when Artur drove us up to Piazzale Michelangelo for the panoramic overlook of Florence. I had the most amazing small group tour from Rome to Pisa and Florence. Nariman, our guide was fun, engaging, kind, inclusive, and brilliant. Emanuele, our driver, was also very welcoming, a great driver, very observant, engaging, and handled any challenges with ease. I trusted these guys with my life. I would send my kids on the road with them. These gentlemen are such an asset to this company. They made my first trip to Italy so memorable. As a bonus, members of my tour have all become friends. We check in with one another, and have even made plans to meet up to visit in our respective cities. We were able to become friendly with another group on the same tour. Our driver, Luigi, should be a NASCAR driver. He drives fast, but very carefully. He is also a great person to hang out with. Very glad to we got to meet him. Our guide, Malak, was amazing! She was very informative and kind. She even gave my wife and daughter a great place to get real authentic leather purses. She was an expert on what we were observing, and continually filled us in with local information. The best part of all, was that 90% of the time, it was just my family, Malak and Luigi. You could not have asked for a better trip. It was worth every penny!

Nariman and Roberto were INCREDIBLE!!! The tour is incredibly long at 14 hours, including 7 hours of drive time, but with these two leading the way, it didn’t feel that way.
