We joined the Filter kaapi food walk and it was a fantastic experience. We got a real flavour of life in a traditional neighbourhood of Bangalore. Our guide helped us savor local dishes at the best joints where the local residents hang out. We also saw a colourful market. The highlight was a eco friendly juice centre where even glasses were made of the fruit parts and no plastic or glass! Very highly recommended.
It was a very nice trip; we had to cut it short because of the rain, but we enjoyed it very much-although what I would like to see included this trip is more of the South Indian culture and of the neighbourhood as it is one of the oldest neighbourhood of Bangalore. What we ended up doing his visit visiting a lot of temples, which was nice, but I think the experience could be richer by adding more about the neighbourhood.
Hello! I am glad you enjoyed Filter kaapi walk. Thanks for taking the time for this review. We will incorporate your feedback. It was our pleasure hosting you.
Snekar has been a good host. Very informative visit of the temples. Lots of insides and background on the history of India. Recommended.
First, we very much enjoyed being with Mayuri. There were only 4 of us which made it easy to get around. We had chai tea, doses, and idly. Mayuri explained about all the food. Plus, she walked us past produce stalls and took into a special temple that had recently been uncovered from years of burial. There is a mystery about the water source. Our driver had a lovely clean car and was as attentive as Mayuri. Don’t hesitate to take this tour!
I had a great tour with Mayuri on the Filter Kaapi walk! We explored Malleswaram, trying local foods and coffee and walking through nearby markets and temples. I had a wonderful time and highly recommend this tour!
We went out on a Saturday morning. Car picked us up right on time p. We met the guide in the beautiful old neighborhood of maheshwaram just as the colorful street market was opening up. It’s a beautiful sight seeing those lovely flower shops and amazing flower garlands made of lotus, marigold, rose petals, tulsi. It wa a great to watch the shopkeepers building the garlands. We went to a juice place which had dwliciciuous guava, draganonfruit, coconut, banana juices served in fruit shells. We went to an amazing roadside idli place which served awesome steaming hot big idlies and delicious sambar. We went to a couple of mandir and saw the Brahmins conducting pujas, it was a really great view into the normal outi of the bubble Indian life. Pleasant, tasty and peaceful. Highly recommend it.
A nice walk along a street in Bengaluru exploring food and culture. Amit was a great guide. Knowledgeable and a really nice guy to boot
It was a great walking tour. I felt like it was absolutely worth the time and cost. I particularly enjoyed the Temple of Shiva in the middle of Malleswaram and talking to Ravi about the meaning of the icons and statues. It also seemed like he had chosen very good locations for the food and coffee. The coffee seemed a bit better and the food was also excellent. Ravi was an excellent conversationalist and very easy to talk to.
Had a great time, the tour guide was very accommodating and helpful. If you are not familiar with the city I would recommend getting the pickup included but otherwise it is a good way to taste the real food of the area!
A great tour - Prashant was in touch beforehand to arrange meeting location, and did a great job of explaining the traditions behind the dishes we ate. He was happy to answer any and all questions about that broader social and historical context, and I feel my trip to Bangalore was much better because of this. Would highly recommend.
