Sanctuaire de Fátima et village de Pastorinhos, à une demi-journée de Coimbra

Le sanctuaire de Fátima est, par excellence, un lieu de pèlerinage chrétien et de dévotion catholique, préservant la mémoire des événements qui ont conduit à sa fondation, à savoir les apparitions de Notre-Dame de Fatima aux trois bergers - Lúcia dos Santos, Francisco et Jacinta Marto - en 1917. Dans cette visite, nous visiterons la place d'Aljustrel, la soi-disant Aldeia de Valinhos, lieu où vivaient les 3 petits bergers. En arrivant au sanctuaire, nous visiterons la basilique de Nossa Senhora do Rosário. Le bâtiment, qui se distingue par sa tour de 65 mètres de haut, est le lieu où reposent les restes des trois petits bergers. Nous visiterons ensuite la Basilique de la Très Sainte Trinité, la plus récente du sanctuaire, et la Capelinha das Aparições où, avec un peu de chance, vous aurez l'occasion d'assister à une messe. Après la visite, nous retournons à votre hôtel à Coimbra.

My main purpose of coming to Portugal was to come to Fatima. Our driver/ tour guide Xavier was excellent. He explained the history and significance of Fatima to us.

We had a wonderful trip today. We learned a lot about the country as well as Fátima. There were only 2 of us on the tour so it felt like we had a private tour.

The architecture is beautiful and the space completely preserved. Entry is free! The place is huge so I recommend you arrive early and take 3 hours to enjoy Fatima. Enjoy and visit the wax museum and the interactive museum that is located close to the sanctuary!

Needless to add details about this unique place in the world. I'll write some information that can be useful: behind the Sanctuary there is a large free car park. always behind are available bathrooms also these free. in the perimeter of the sanctuary I did not find places to buy candles, take care to buy them in the country of Fatima. In the Sanctuary you can not light but column to the left of the same where there is a large brazier. The rest is just prayer, faith and for those who are not believers observation of a unique place.

Tour guide arrived on time was extremely informative and helpful. Unfortunately the weather was not the best, it was Pouring Rain. But we still were able to accomplish our goals to the sanctuary, light our candles and buy our souvenirs. Thank You Xavier for your help and conversation. Hope to see you again.
