Spectacular day spent driving around Thorsmork and the black sand beach. Our guide Skooli, picked the three of us up at our hotel near Hella and drove us to grab snacks for the day, and then to the gravel road toward Thorsmork. I had paid for some self-drive time but was delighted when Skooli handed over the keys to the heavily modified Land Cruiser and pointed in the direction of the valley. Narrow gravel and several river crossings led to our first stop at a glacier tongue. Multiple more river crossings expertly guided by Skooli and we ate lunch, hiked a few epic canyons and waterfalls before turning around and heading to the beach. The trip would have been to the glacier originally, but weather was foggy and warm so glacier driving was not in the cards. The beach was an endless black sand desert that we cruised across. Some dunes and technically challenging terrain navigation was required to find our way back to tarmac. All in all the best day. We plan on returning to Iceland and will definitely book another day with Arctic Trucks.
We did the half day Arctic Truck Driving experience with a guide and it was amazing - drove off road, through rivers and up a mountain in the snow! Once in a lifetime experience and the guide was amazing.
This is still one of the best experiences we've ever had! Iceland itself is a beautiful and unique place, add to that the experience with Arctic Trucks made it unforgettable. Ingo, our tour guide, was one of the nicest people you'll ever meet, and his knowledge of Iceland and each area we went to was spot on, and he answered every question we had about Iceland, the culture, the area, the Truck, everything! The Arctic Trucks converted Toyota Land Cruiser was awesome and tackled everything we through at it. While I was driving I managed to get us stuck when we bottomed out and a rescue mission was orchestrated by Ingo to get as going again, which just made for a better story when we got home! We will be back...
This review is to complain about the shop Arctic Trucks not the experience. Very slow service, one of the staff on the floor is more interested in speaking to his friends on his phone rather than help customers. When approached by a customer he wasn't happy to help. Terrible service!!
This is my fourth trip with arctic trucks and they keep on surprising us with their professionalism and friendly attitude. We experienced sites that not accessible to the average tourists. If you want to see the real Iceland than arctic trucks experience should be your choice.
Dear Boardin, WOW! Thank you very much for your review! They really don't get any better than this. Thank you too for your returning visits. We are discussing what to surprise you and your amazing team with next year. Looking forward to seeing you again. All the best from Iceland, The Arctic Trucks Experience Team
January 2019 We highly recommend booking for tours. What could be better than exploring this awesome country in a powerful modified 4x4 with their brilliant guides. Arctic Trucks Experience provide a helpful, knowledgeable, professional, passionate and fun service and go above and beyond to make your time in Iceland unforgettable. Unfortunately we didn't get to see the Northern Lights during our tours and the Snowmobile trip was a white out due to very poor weather conditions so we didn't actually see the glacier or scenery but that's part of the adventure, mother nature is in full control in Iceland. A massive thanks to Margret, Ásgeir and Roman for making our visit so memorable.
Dear Hammy, Thank you very much for your beautiful review. Yes, the weather in Iceland can change quickly. Please let us know if you are planning to return to Iceland. All the best, The Arctic Trucks Team
EYJAFJALLAJÖKULL & ÞÓRSMÖRK (day trip). Driving this wonderful machine through rivers and up steep hills, which we were doubtful would be possible. We had a guide with us and he told us where it was safe to drive and answered every question. A different and fantastic experience on Iceland!
Dear Charlotte, Thank you very much for your nice review. This means a lot to us. We hope to see you again. All the best from the ATX team!
One of the most amazing driving experiences ever. We did this trip bone dry, with no snow in May unfortunately I now need to come all the way back to try it covered in snow. The truck is amazing (I want one) it goes up and down inclinations that I can not believe. We drove up and down rivers, through rivers, up/down steep inclines, a truly amazing experience. Expensive but well worth it. I only wish I had done a 2 or 3 day experience. Our guide was exceptionally knowledgeable not only the route but of the whole island. A thoroughly enjoyable day/experience. Wow!
Dear 414AC, Thank you for your awesome review. We are very glad and proud to read it, in fact it up on our wall right now for our whole team to enjoy. We can also make a truck for you, that is a part of what we do. We welcome you for a multi-day experience. Please let us know if you are back in Iceland. A WOW for you too! All the best from Iceland, The Arctic Trucks Experience team
Awesome 2 day driving experience in Arctic Truck's Hilux AT38. They have taken a very capable truck and somehow made it even better. Absolute professionalism by the team in arranging every detail of the tour. My guide (Arnar) was not only a great ambassador for Arctic but his friendly personality, knowledge of Iceland, mechanical know how of the truck, and his passion for the outdoors all made him the perfect companion during the trip. If ever you have the opportunity to visit Iceland, these guys are the best!
Dear Faiek, Thank you very much for your wonderful review. We were very proud and humble after reading it. We agree with you regarding Arnar, he is a true professional. Please let us know if you plan to visit Iceland again. All the best from Iceland, The Arctic Trucks Experience team
A day me and my son will never forget. Playing in an At38 HiLux and having a blast! Learned new skills, got some great experiences, and the Glacier experience and off-road driving really capped it off. Joi was a great guide who really knows his trucks! We’ll be back!
Dear Pat, Thank you very much for your review. Jói has received your review and sends you his best regards. He is a part of our Antarctica team this season, he will be returning back to Iceland in January 2019. We hope to see you again, please let us know if you are planning to return.
