Description
Lors de l’exposition interactive high-tech Lava Centre, vous découvrirez la naissance et la croissance de l’Islande en tant qu’une des plus grandes îles volcaniques du monde. Il s'est élevé pendant des millions d'années du sous-marin North Atlantic Ridge, à travers d'innombrables éruptions volcaniques. Ils se produisent sous la forme d'un grand panache de manteau qui ajoute localement de la roche fondue au flux ascendant de magma sous les segments de rift qui bordent cette crête. La propagation le long de la crête entraîne l'écartement des plaques tectoniques eurasienne et nord-américaine de 20 kilomètres tous les millions d'années, un ongle par an. Interagissez avec les volcans et ressentez les tremblements de terre. Un film fantastique présentant les dernières éruptions en Islande et une belle terrasse d'observation complètent une visite à ne pas manquer.

Au LAVA Center est une exposition interactive de haute technologie sur les volcans et les tremblements de terre. C'est l'exposition la plus récompensée d'Islande. Il raconte l'histoire de l'Islande et explique pourquoi elle est si active. Il entre dans les détails sur les différents volcans et types de volcans. Une réplique du point chaud sous l'Islande (panache de magma) et un simulateur de tremblement de terre feront remonter vos cheveux. Un film sur toutes les éruptions les plus récentes et une belle terrasse d'observation complètent une expérience à ne pas manquer. Le LAVA Center se trouve juste à côté de la route principale allant à l'est de Reykjavík et est la porte d'entrée de la côte sud et du Katla Geoopark.

If somebody asks me about lava and geology i would point them straight to lava centre and their museum and movie. Not only is it intresting but its interactive and fun.

The Lava Center is located right on the road and has a large parking lot. At the time of our visit, there was very little going on, which was pleasant. We booked the film and tour. The film is very short and shows some of the latest eruptions. The film was okay, but it didn't necessarily have to be made. The tour through the subsequent exhibition was very interesting and really well done. All information is available in Icelandic or English. Many opportunities to interact. Duration is approximately 1 hour. One can, for example, feel the different magnitudes of earthquakes. One feels very humble and small after the visit. On the roof of the building, there is an observation platform from which one can see the various volcanoes. Unfortunately, not much can be seen in cloudy weather. The shop in the building is well-stocked and can also be visited without a ticket. As can the café. We did not visit this, but it looked nice.

I visited Lava as part of an organised tour. I was very impressed by the amount of different exhibits and the way it explained the various types and timelines involved in the whole process. It is well laid out and has enough people who could explain and answer questions.
The centre had good signage and was easy to navigate . Information as clear and facilities were clean looking. The movie was just a collection of volcano clips with loud music, which was a bit disappointing
