Well organized. Knowledgeable and fun guides. Moana is a star! We visited an incredibly beautiful paradise beach and three fantastic places to snorkel with very beautiful to see! Really like swimming in an aquarium! Highly recommended!

I visited the Surin Islands from Phuket on 2nd January with SeaTrip while the excursion is sold here from an agency. The best part of the excursion was the snorkeling and the beauty of the places. The water was clear and I saw many colorful fish and corals. The islands were stunning and peaceful. However, I was very disappointed by some aspects of the excursion. First of all, the excursion was advertised as a small group of 15 people(is what I paid), but in reality there were more than 40 people on the boat. It felt crowded and noisy. Second, the price was too high for the offer. I paid 125 euros x pers, while I saw other excursions on Viator with the same company for 80 euros(also other italians on the boat told me they paid 80). I felt cheated and overcharged. Third, the driver was late for more than 20 minutes, which made us lose time and patience. Fourth, we spent more time in the car than on the islands. The road was long and bumpy, and we only had a few hours to enjoy the islands. Fifth, one of the snorkeling spots had a very strong current, which made it hard to swim and see anything. It was not enjoyable at all. Also the program changed as the excursion initiated 1 hour later as advertised. Overall, I would not recommend this excursion to anyone. It was not worth the money or the time. There are better options to visit the Surin Islands from Phuket. As a final overall consideration I find asking for tips so brazenly very inelegant.
Dear Fabrizio, Thanks for your review and here are my comments. The tour is advertised as 40 people, i have checked and this is correct. We are confused with your comments about the high price, why did you book this? There are other Surin Island Tours which are cheaper and more expensive BUT most importantly, they are not the same, ie some do not offer lunch, we do etc. I am sure you agree we cant be held liable for the bumpiness of the road or the current of the seas. However we are puzzled why you have said nothing to the guide on the day, have emailed the company with your dissatisfaction? The guide can assist you on the spot, and could have sent you back if you did not enjoy this as per your review. I am sorry you did not enjoy the day out, Regards, Paul
Really enjoyed this trip. 3 snorkeling stops where we saw loads of beautiful fish. Also visited 2 beaches and had lunch at one of them. When back on the boat we were continually provided with drinks (water or Coke) and lots of fruit. Crew were so informative and cheerful. Bonus of trip was that the captain spotted a whale on the trip back to the pier. He stopped the boat so that we could all see if the whale resurfaced. After a few minutes it did and we now have a lovely memory of seeing a Beluga Whale in its natural habitat. Wonderful. Tip: this trip can be purchased at many tour stalls and shops and will be hugely discounted from the price shown on the pamphlet and the price quoted by hotel / or your holiday company. Shop around. We paid £50 less than the pamphlet price.
Dear Guest, Thank you for taking the time to leave us such a nice review. It's only when we receive such positive feedback, do we rest knowing that we have done our jobs well. Thanks again, Nick
The organization of the trip to the Surin Islands was top. I settled on Koh Phayam for Mr. Trip decided. Boat, crew and food were great. We made four snorkel stops. Three of them were terrifying. A stop showed how it certainly looked some time ago everywhere. Almost all the corals are dead. The diversity of fish species is therefore limited. On request, we received the information that the currents were too warm in many places for too long and therefore the corals died. In addition, fishing nets that have passed through the corals are often found. I'm very sorry to say this, but anyone who knows about good snorkeling spots will be very sad. No, I would not Enterprise another trip to the Surin Islands anytime soon.
Dear AnjaSonnenschein, Your obvious concerns for the future of the planet's coral reefs and fish is commendable. Global warming and conservation are hot topics at the moment. But exaggerating is just as bad as ignoring. The area around Surin Island remains one of Thailand's most beautiful snorkelling spots. The coral reefs are not all dead. Not even close to it. And there are many different species of fish here too. I personally encountered a turtle come to within about a metre of our boat just a couple of months ago. (And this was not an isolated occurrence either and the turtle was given complete respect too!). It is true that currents have damaged certain areas, and I do regret that you take this to mean it is totally dead and is completely man-made. It is also a shame that you have chosen not to comment on the beauty above the water and have made no mention of the Mokun village. Kind regards, Christopher Product Manager - Tours & Activities Online I Asia Group
After half an hour by van from Khao Lak we arrived at the port and got a small breakfast. Then I took the speedboat to the Surin Islands. The snorkel stops were incredibly beautiful, 2 x half an hour. Then visit the Moken with their newly built village. For lunch we went to the main island, the food was plentiful and delicious. After that there was another snorkel stop which was the absolute highlight, a dive into another world, incredibly beautiful.
Dear SabineP865, So happy to read that you enjoyed the tour out to Surin Islands so much. Thank you for taking the time to write!! Kind regards, Christopher Manager Tours & Activities Online Department I Asia Thailand
When the tsunami hit Khao Lak and Surin Island on December 25, 2004, the Moken had a seventh sense and fled early to the mountains of Surin. All 150 residents of Surin survived the natural event. Their houses were razed to the ground. Today 15 years later, all the Moken wooden cabins burned down, three weeks ago. Since then, the locals have been rebuilding all the huts and the beach is closed for viewing. Some mokes come to the main beach to sell homemade bracelets to holidaymakers. The food here is super delicious and provided with a lot of fish. Surin is definitely worth an n detour. From Khao Lak by bus 30min. To the port. With the 750 hp speedboat about 1.5 hours to Surin. Good for snorkeling but lots of coral cemeteries to watch, little big fish, no snails, maybe turtles.
Dear Golfsozi, I am happy to read that you had a wonderful day out at Surin islands just off Phuket. This is a new tour to I Asia Thailand and I am very pleased you had a great experience! Regards, Nick
