Explorez le nouveau bâtiment de l'ancien bureau de poste, dont la conception du début du XXe siècle a été réutilisée de manière adaptative pour devenir un magnifique immeuble de bureaux moderne de classe A. Il semblait autrefois que les superbes détails architecturaux de l'ancien bureau de poste de Chicago allaient disparaître avec le temps alors que le bâtiment restait vacant pendant près de deux décennies. Mais le bâtiment de 2,8 millions de pieds carrés, achevé en 1934, a récemment fait l'objet d'une rénovation monumentale et sert désormais d'espace événementiel et de bureau moderne et polyvalent qui répond aux besoins actuels en matière de grands espaces de travail lumineux. Découvrez comment les artefacts historiques et les détails du bâtiment ont été intégrés de manière créative dans la conception de l'ancien bureau de poste, notamment la conversion du toit en un parc urbain sur le toit de 3,5 acres. Les anciens lieux peuvent devenir de nouveaux espaces lorsqu'un promoteur visionnaire collabore avec une équipe d'architectes primée.
Les invités visiteront l'intérieur du bâtiment de l'ancien bureau de poste sur la rue W Van Buren, discuteront de l'histoire du bâtiment et de sa rénovation en un espace de bureau moderne et apprendront ce qu'est la réutilisation adaptative et pourquoi elle est importante. Les invités verront le hall principal, le « mur en zigzag », le « mur de cartes postales » et la prairie sur le toit.

Such an interesting tour led by Alice ... She has a wonderful personality and her vast knowledge gave me a deep appreciation of its history... The building is magnificent... She was built for heavy duty work, almost left to crumble, but was revived into magnificent building housing many modern companies... How could you not want to go to work every day... The amenities for the workers are absolutely top-notch...

I learned so much, I will need to take this tour again! I live in Chicago and had never been in the renovated Old Post Office - it is stunning! Because we were on the tour, we had access to the amenities on the 2nd floor AND the rooftop. This is a great thing to do with out-of-town guests.

Alice was an excellent and energetic tour guide through this wonderful example of an adaptive (but expensive) reuse of the Old Post Office. Alice’s descriptions bridged the past to the present with interesting insight about the methods of mail handling in Chicago and its contribution to the USA.

This tour was fabulous. The guide was knowledgeable and provided a great overview of the history of the building. Many of the original art deco elements were retained and then incorporated into the modern redesign. Chef’s kiss! Make sure to go up to see the rooftop space.
