Private museums personalized tour experience - $305 USD Bottom line: Would not recommend this tour if it were free. Our guide was very nice and kind older woman. She offered water and gave us a complimentary local chocolate which was a surprise. I had a private tour with my wife. She arrived late due to traffic (not a big deal). However, the guide did not have any knowledge regarding the museums or art. Also, her knowledge of English was rudimentary at best and not adequate to give a tour. There were many miscommunications throughout the day and felt the onus on us to try to understand what was going on when she did say something. She was very slow and the only insight she provided was reading off of the placard besides the artwork and an occasional, "this artist is famous." After telling the tour company that we were disappointed with the tour, they stated that "The product we sell is not an art of history oriented experience, but rather a visit to museums of your own choice..." Please save your money and get an uber to the museums you wish to visit. It is very easy and will save you loads of money and frustration. If you are interested in art and learning I'd go elsewhere. If you want a very expensive chauffeur who will slow you down please feel free to continue. Wish someone had let me know ahead of time. Again, would not recommend this tour if it were free.
Mr. Marx, Thank you very much for taking your time to share your point of view of the touring experience you booked with us. We again apologize that the kind of service provided was not what you sought. It is indeed true that none of our guides are specialists in history of art, albeit the majority of them having had studied the subject in their professional guide formation or individually in order to be able to present the exhibits in each museum. Still, we stand by our decision that these are not grounds for a full refund minus ticket expenses as was requested in your first contact after the tour. We have found throughout 20 years of collaboration with your specific guide, Monica, that every other client to this point has found her commentary and insights on the artists and their works to be relevant to the experience. I have no doubt that a lot of what she mentioned was present in the placards at the museum, as those aim to be as informative as possible. Our clients have often found in the past that opting to individually read each one of those during their visits provides for a very lengthy experience, and have appreciated the fact that their guides could summarize the information for them. We completely respect your preference to be in the company of someone who can delve even deeper and in more detail, and we wish we could have identified that, as we have third-party contacts that have pursued higher education in art specifically, and we would have gladly referred you to them. This has definitely been a prized learning experience for us as a company, but do sincerely lament it has cost your time and expectations in what was ultimately something different from what you sought. We will definitely make sure to check with future clients what if the depth of museum touring we offer to our clients is the kind they seek, and wish you well and only the best in your future travels. One side note of relevance would be about Monica's ability to communicate in English. We have in the past had situations with adapting to the Brazilian accent, but we were confused in this one occasion. Monica was born and raised in Switzerland, and has received a multilingual upbringing in many languages, including English. This kind of miscommunication involving her would be a first, but we will be sure to keep an eye out for any future clients that relay such problems, as it had never been a point of our concern in the past, but will make sure to include it in our review requests for tours booked directly with us in the future, so we can assure this language element is still being satisfactorily provided as it has been in the past. Kind regards, Personal tour team
Excelent tours . Our tour guide Mr.Nelio Fernades, was very friendly and amusing. He can speak English fluently, and took us to amazing places. It was worth the money! He was very flexible with timing, too. I can recomend this tours and tour guide.
