Going into this I did not know what to expect. I was planning this trip to Europe for my wife’s 50th birthday and she loves chocolate, we planned on bringing our 11 year old daughter. From the very beginning after signing up I almost immediately received an email communication from Dorien confirming the reservation and asking some questions to help personalize the experience. From there our conversation back and forth was amazing. She was able to set the time to better fit our schedule and she really dug into questions that helped build the taste profile for the experience. The day of the event I was thrilled to see a sign in the window welcoming us and we were greeted with a warm hello when we entered. Dorien commenced with the experience educating us about chocolate and giving us tastes we will probably never again encounter. IT WAS AMAZING!!!! I could go on and on but there is a character limit, so to summarize: if you have the time and you are in Ghent, and want to know about chocolate - DO This! Dorien and her partner put on a five star presentation and I cannot praise them enough! Thank you!!!

This experience was amazing! If you are someone who treats dining as a hobby, the private chocolate experience is a must. We are so glad we went with this more intimate, more thoughtful chocolate tasting over the other options for chocolate tours in Ghent. Dorien is incredibly kind and clearly cares about the nuances of chocolate. We were so impressed by her knowledge and had multiple fantastic chocolates paired with interesting, delicious ingredients. We loved that Dorien gave us an opportunity to personalize our experience to our tastes before we arrived. We feel like we got to experience something truly unique with multiple niche tastings (such as cacao tea and fruit). This experience was our top highlight of our stay in Ghent, could not recommend it more. :)

I would recommend this experience just for the unique cacao drinks alone. I didn't know anything about cacao but it was fascinating to taste the fruit, brew, and the tea. You basically get to try every step in the chocolate-making process, plus some unique chocolate pairings at the end.

I booked this experience because I am a big lover of chocolate. My husband, on the other hand, was a bit hesitant at first considering our time in Ghent was limited. But now he can't stop talking about how great the whole experience was! He especially liked the homemade chocolate liqueur, he keeps raving about it. All in all, well worth the money and the time! :)

From start to finish really a top experience! These two hours have really flown by. We still enjoy all that goodness we tasted. For Belgium, this is truly unique, an unexpected gem. We have learned so much too! The cocoa fruit and bean-to-bar chocolate were really an eye-opener for us.

We have some friends coming over to Belgium in the summer and we already recommended them to drop by your place. If they have enough time, they'll also do the tasting. It was my sister’s 50th birthday and as she is a massive foodie, I had booked a whole day of food-related experiences. For lunch and dinner, we went to two different Michelin restaurants, and I had also reserved a spot at a beautiful hotel cocktail bar with a view. Needless to say, the whole day was amazing, but this experience was definitely the biggest highligt. As this is a private tasting, you expect a personal service, but this surpassed all our expectations. Before the tasting, you get to indicate your preferences. Like what you're most interested in and which flavours you prefer. I picked food pairing and indicated that we specifically wanted to learn more about pairing chocolate with non-alcoholic drinks. I honestly didn’t expect too much from the personalization, maybe just some tips & tricks. However, Dorien went above and beyond to personalize the experience. We tried an incredible drink with cocoa fruit and had a very special Chinese tea & chocolate pairing. All the other chocolates were incredible as well! (So much so that we tried to move our dinner reservation one hour later.) Dorien answered all our questions with a lot of passion and enthusiasm, and she adapted the tasting to our interests on the spot, which shows an incredible amount of know-how and professionalism. Even though the tasting room is definitely nothing fancy, I would say the whole experience, especially the service, is at Michelin level.

Dear Dorien, Thank you for sharing your knowledge about chocolate with us. You guided us very calm and friendly through the private chocolat experience. We learned a lot about the origin of chocolate, the history and the whole process from the fruit of the tree till the pieces chocolates and pralines you served us. This was a highlight of our time in Ghent. Chocolade Ambassade is run by a lovely young couple who are serious about high quality chocolate and sharing their knowledge with others. We enjoyed a wide assortment of chocolate and chocolate-based products, including things that are made with the byproducts of the chocolate making process. We learned so much!
