Nous viendrons vous chercher à votre hôtel à Guatemala, puis nous traverserons la ville sur le chemin du département de Sacatepequez, où se trouve Antigua Guatemala City. C'est un voyage de 1,5 heure, alors asseyez-vous et mettez-vous à l'aise. N'hésitez pas à demander à votre chauffeur ou guide touristique si vous avez besoin de quelque chose.
Cette colline est l'endroit idéal pour commencer notre visite à Antigua Guatemala. Nous marcherons à travers la forêt de la colline pendant environ 3 minutes jusqu'à ce que nous arrivions au point de vue à couper le souffle, une superbe vue à vol d'oiseau de la ville entourée de 3 superbes volcans.
Casa Santo Domingo, autrefois le plus grand monastère d'Antigua Guatemala, remonte à 1538 avec l'arrivée des Dominicains. Ce sanctuaire à deux tours et dix cloches était un trésor de reliques et de dévotion. Bien que partiellement détruites par le tremblement de terre de 1773 à Santa Marta, ses ruines restent un exemple étonnant d'architecture baroque. Aujourd'hui, la Casa Santo Domingo abrite le seul hôtel cinq étoiles d'Antigua, réputé pour sa restauration soignée, ses jardins luxuriants et ses musées exceptionnels présentant des chefs-d'œuvre artistiques, des statues et des cryptes. Une visite ici offre un mélange d'histoire, d'art et de luxe. La visite de cet endroit comprend les zones en libre accès. Les musées ne sont pas inclus.
À Antigua Guatemala, vous aurez l'impression de remonter le temps, d'observer et de contempler la magestuosité du volcan d'eau qui se profile à l'arrière-plan de la ville, les vieilles rues pavées et l'architecture de plus de 500 ans. Nous commençons notre visite à pied depuis le parc central de la Plaza de Antigua Guatemala, qui est le centre de la ville, également entouré des bâtiments les plus importants.
Est une église catholique romaine à Antigua Guatemala. L'église d'origine a été construite vers 1541 mais a subi plusieurs tremblements de terre au cours de son histoire, et le premier bâtiment de l'église a été démoli en 1669. La cathédrale a été reconstruite et consacrée en 1680. En 1743, la cathédrale était l'une des plus grandes d'Amérique centrale. Cependant, le tremblement de terre dévastateur de 1773 au Guatemala a gravement endommagé une grande partie du bâtiment, bien que les deux tours à l'avant soient restées en grande partie intactes. Celles-ci ont subi des travaux de restauration et la cathédrale a été en partie reconstruite. La visite des ruines de l'église n'est pas incluse. Note: Nous ne visitons qu'à l'extérieur. L'entrée à la cathédrale de Santiago est facultative.
Le Palais des Capitaines Généraux, ou Palais Royal, est un bâtiment colonial situé dans la ville d'Antigua au Guatemala. Il abrite notamment les bureaux de l’Institut guatémaltèque du tourisme, de la Guilde du tourisme d’Antigua, de la police nationale civile et du gouvernement départemental.
Les visiteurs en apprendront davantage sur l'histoire du chocolat et pourront acheter des chocolats et de nombreux autres produits à base de cacao.
Debout au-dessus des rues pavées et face au imposant Volcan de Agua, cet arche jaune safran est devenu le symbole d'Antigua et l'image centrale de la plupart des cartes postales.
Cette belle église jaune est le meilleur exemple de l'architecture baroque guatémaltèque. L'église datant du 18ème siècle est l'une des plus belles d'Antigua Guatemala. Il est entouré d'un beau jardin, de ventes d'artisanat et de grands cafés qui proposent un authentique café "Antigüeño" (café d'Antigua Guatemala) avec des notes de chocolat en raison de son processus de torréfaction. Si vous souhaitez entrer dans l'église, il vous sera demandé de ne pas porter de shorts et de chemises sans manches, et pour les femmes, les mini-jupes ne sont pas autorisées.
L'histoire de l'église El Carmen remonte à 1683 lorsque le conseil municipal autorisa la construction d'un temple sous l'invocation de Notre-Dame de Carmen. Cette église a subi de gros dégâts après les tremblements de terre de 1717, 1728 et 1773. Finalement, le bâtiment a été ruiné et a donc dû être abandonné.

We wanted to feedback about our recent tour in Antigua Guatemala on Saturday April 27, 2024, half day - private tour. This was a time sensitive tour as we had to return to our cruise ship, SilverSea (Silver Nova) by 4pm. As seasoned travelers who value professional guided tours, this experience was uniquely disappointing and we believe specific instances from our tour will illustrate why improvements are necessary. Ignoring Client Preferences: We had specific ideas about where we wanted to eat and what we wanted to see, but our guide dismissed these requests. Despite multiple attempts to direct him to our chosen shopping destinations, he insisted on taking us to another location, which then forced us to walk to our desired shopping destination. Obtrusive Behavior: At each site, he positioned himself in front of us, blocking views while pointing out mundane objects without providing any historical context or educational value. His commentary was often repetitive, pointing out the obvious, such as "look, this building is very old, very old", which did not enhance our understanding of the locations visited. Lack of Privacy: The guide's presence was overbearing. For instance, in the restaurant at the Porta Hotel, he chose to sit continuously within our view, observing us as we ate, which was highly uncomfortable. His subsequent behavior was equally unprofessional; he took tourist-like photos in the lobby, which delayed us further as he lost track of where he had parked the car. Disregard for Time Management: After the meal, when it was clear we were pressed for time, the guide was unable to locate the car promptly, insisting it was "just around the corner." This led us to decide to walk to our next destination out of necessity, not preference—a choice he seemed to misunderstand as a casual decision rather than a frustration-driven necessity. These specific examples reflect a broader issue of professionalism and sensitivity to our needs, which were not met during our tour. The guide’s knowledge was inadequate, in addition his delivery and conduct were neither professional nor considerate. Furthermore, we would like to reiterate our appreciation for the driver, who was both polite and efficient, contrasting sharply with our experience of the guide. We have attached a photo of the guide for your reference, as we do not recall his name. We trust that you will address these issues promptly to prevent future clients from having similar experiences. The driver and the guide were very nice and very knowledgeable The city itself was very quaint and the volcanoes were great to see. The drive there is quite bumpy and lots of traffic both ways.

Antigua was amazing. The combination of colonial architecture, blossomed jacarandas and volcanic scenery was spectacular. Eduardo, my guide, provided detailed information of the city history and showed me the best spots. Highly recommend it.

This tour was so much fun that I extended it to a full day tour. I met some marvelous folks from around the globe. The tour guide was very knowledgeable. I learned a lot of history about Antigua. It's a beautiful town to wonder around. The group also enjoyed a lunch while in town and the food was amazing. Don't hesitate, just book this tour!
