La vallée de La Orotava se déroule à vos pieds comme un tapis vert qui vous invite à la tranquillité. Si les nuages enveloppent le paysage comme une douce couette, cherchez dans le ciel la silhouette du mont Teide, un géant qui veille sur l'horizon. Derrière lui, le massif du Teno se dresse tel un ancien gardien et La Palma apparaît au loin, comme un rêve.
Attiré par le paysage impressionnant, vous arrivez au centre d'accueil d'El Portillo sans connaître la richesse des connaissances naturelles qui vous attend à l'intérieur. En pénétrant dans le petit musée du centre, vous êtes captivé par les panneaux d'information et absorbez des faits fascinants sur les origines du Teide et les espèces uniques qui l'habitent. Vous pouvez même jeter un œil à l’intérieur d’un tube volcanique ! Jamais auparavant vous n’avez été aussi intrigué par un environnement naturel. Du coup, vous avez hâte d'apprendre tout ce qu'il y a à savoir sur cet impressionnant volcan.
Le parc national du Teide est la zone la plus élevée de l'île de Tenerife (dans les îles Canaries) et d'Espagne. Déclaré le 22 janvier 1954 comme parc national, il est le plus grand et le plus ancien des parcs nationaux des îles Canaries et le troisième plus ancien d'Espagne. En 2007, il a été déclaré site du patrimoine mondial par l'Unesco, et depuis cette année, il est considéré comme l'un des 12 trésors de l'Espagne. Dans cette zone se trouve le volcan Teide (en Guanche et à l'origine, Echeyde ou Echeide) qui, avec ses 3718 mètres, est le plus haut sommet des îles Canaries, en Espagne et toute terre émergeant de l'océan Atlantique. C'est également le troisième plus grand volcan du monde depuis sa base au fond de l'océan, seulement dépassé par Mauna Kea et Mauna Loa à Hawaï. La hauteur du Teide fait également de l'île de Tenerife la dixième île la plus haute du monde. À côté de Teide se trouve la deuxième plus haute montagne de l'archipel des Canaries, le Pico Viejo avec 3135 mètres d'altitude, les deux étant les seules montagnes des Canaries qui dépassent 3000 mètres d'altitude. C'est également le parc national le plus visité d'Europe et actuellement le neuvième au monde.
Les Roques de García sont un superbe témoignage de la puissance pure de la nature. Ces imposantes formations rocheuses, sculptées par des millions d'années d'érosion, se dressent telles des sentinelles protégeant le majestueux Teide. Son aspect surnaturel et le décor spectaculaire des Cañadas del Teide créent un spectacle vraiment inoubliable. En contemplant ces merveilles géologiques, vous vous sentirez transporté dans un paysage qui semble à la fois ancien et étrange.
Avant de descendre vers La Orotava, nous ferons un arrêt à Las Minas de San José. Après des kilomètres de traversée du terrain volcanique accidenté de l'île, nous découvrirons un contraste presque surréaliste : une immense étendue de sable blanc et poudreux s'étend devant nous tel un mirage. C'est comme si nous étions tombés sur un paysage étrange.
Remontez le temps et plongez-vous dans la riche histoire et les traditions des îles Canaries à la Casa de los Balcones. Ce manoir du XVIIe siècle, achevé en 1632, témoigne du patrimoine architectural de la région et d'un centre dynamique d'artisanat traditionnel. La maison dispose d'un impressionnant patio, typique de l'architecture canarienne, avec une grande façade avec des balcons en bois qui s'étend sur deux étages. Les plantes tropicales luxuriantes créent une oasis de sérénité au milieu de la ville animée de La Orotava.
Chef-d'œuvre de la botanique, ce jardin de 4 000 mètres carrés a été créé en 1788 et est déclaré patrimoine culturel depuis 2008. Située derrière l'hôtel de ville de La Orotava, cette oasis tranquille abrite une collection variée de plus d'une centaine d'espèces de plantes. Du majestueux marronnier d'Inde au flamboyant aux teintes profondes, le jardin propose un fascinant voyage à travers le règne végétal. Ne manquez pas l'occasion de vous émerveiller devant l'ancien dragonnier, véritable merveille botanique.

We enjoyed our private tour with Jose! He was on time and picked us up just a short walk from our cruise ship. Jose offered to customize our tour. He gave an informative overview of Tenerife as we visited Mount Tiede as well as northern and southern areas of the island. He included a market stop for shopping. This was a great alternative to the more crowded cruise ship excursion.
Didn’t happen. Tour provider cancelled the evening before due to government weather warning. Probably would have been a nice tour..

We had booked a private tour from cruise port and were picked up there on time as agreed and also brought back. Belén showed us the most beautiful sides of her island, headed for great viewpoints and also responded to our wishes. So we were eating very delicious local specialties at lunchtime in a restaurant. We can only recommend this tour!

They didn’t show up. Called the local company and they said they never got the booking from Viator. Trying to secure a refund now. Had to take a taxi

We were 200 meters from the agreed meeting point at the agreed time, but did not get anywhere as the meeting point was on another ship and we were not allowed on the port grounds. Contacting Viator by email, chat, and WhatsApp was not possible, not to mention by phone. I cannot recommend this tour operator to anyone.

I have already written the review for the cancelled tour and the communication methods. I would like to add that after 18 days from the date of the canceled tour, on request when the amount of 156.80 euros paid is refunded they do not respond to emails or Whatsapp messages despite being read. I still keep communication with their agent where the amount is ridiculed as derisory and that they are proud to be TripAdvisor’s choice 2025 and 2024. I really can't explain this unserious way of managing my practice, or rather ignore it.

They cancelled 20 minutes before they were supposed to meet us and after we already were on our way to meet up! Only learned of them cancelling when I called for better directions! Would rate negative if I could.
