Description
Galle est l'une des villes les plus peuplées du Sri Lanka. Ce paradis balnéaire du sud-ouest de l'île est l'un des plus connus de tout le pays en raison de son importance historique. Il a servi de port principal de l'île jusqu'à l'arrivée des Portugais au XVIe siècle. Pendant votre voyage, faites attention aux pêcheurs qui vendent leurs marchandises le long de la route et admirez les superbes plages vertes et turquoises qui la bordent. Dites à notre chauffeur si vous souhaitez enfouir vos orteils dans le sable. Il y a deux possibilités concernant l'origine du nom actuel de Galle. Vous pouvez vivre une expérience unique en vous promenant sur le fort de Galle en regardant vers le bas et en admirant la vue sur la mer. Vous pourrez admirer le coucher de soleil sur le fort le soir. Une fois le soleil couché, retournez au port avec des souvenirs inestimables.

La capitale du Sri Lanka, Colombo, a une longue histoire de service de port sur les anciennes routes commerciales est-ouest qui ont été successivement exploitées par les Portugais, les Néerlandais et les Britanniques. La Sea Turtle Farm and Hatchery est une organisation non rentable qui est maintenue pour la survie des tortues marines pour la prochaine génération. La "Turtle Farm" est située à Habaraduwa près de la belle plage. C'est à 5m de la route principale Galle - Matara. Dans la région sud du Sri Lanka se trouve le district de Galle. Balapitiya est une petite ville du district et n'aurait aucune importance ; à l'exception de l'emplacement d'une rivière. La rivière Madu est très riche en biodiversité. Le phare de Galle est situé à l'intérieur du célèbre fort de Galle. Il est construit à sept mètres au-dessus de la route sur les remparts. Il s'agit du plus ancien phare du Sri Lanka datant de 1848, mais le phare d'origine a été détruit par un incendie en 1934. Il a été reconstruit à la hauteur actuelle de 26 m. Le phare se trouve à l'intérieur des murs de l'ancien fort de Galle, un site du patrimoine mondial de l'UNESCO et une attraction touristique bien connue, ce qui en fait le phare le plus souvent visité du pays. Le Musée national de la marine de Galle regorge de merveilles nautiques et marines, déterrées de la mer et présentées ici. Galle a toujours été un port important, visité par des navires et des commerçants du monde entier depuis plusieurs millénaires. En tant que tel, il n'a pas échappé aux griffes des commerçants hollandais qui placent le profit avant tout.
La tour de l'horloge de Galle est un monument en pierre de quatre étages datant de la fin du XIXe siècle. Il a été construit dans les remparts du fort de Galle à l'emplacement de l'ancien corps de garde, surplombant l'un des trois bastions du fort. Alors que la vieille tour de l'horloge est un grand monument à photographier, il faudra quelques manœuvres habiles en raison de l'angle extrême à proximité. Par conséquent, il serait peut-être préférable de le photographier depuis le bastion de la lune auquel la tour fait face. (se combine avec le fort de Galle) À la fin de la visite, vous retournerez à l'hébergement avec plein de bons souvenirs
Construit à l'origine en 1640, le bâtiment actuel date de 1752. Son sol est pavé de pierres tombales provenant de cimetières hollandais, tandis que d'autres caractéristiques impressionnantes incluent l'orgue et une chaire imposante en bois de calamandre et surmontée d'un grand auvent hexagonal. Autrefois un hippodrome pour parier les coloniaux britanniques, le terrain de cricket de Galle a été créé il y a plus de 100 ans. Depuis 1998, il est utilisé pour les matchs internationaux ; en 2010, c'était le site de la dernière apparition légendaire du grand quilleur du Sri Lanka, Muttiah Muralitharan. Il y a une belle perspective du sol depuis le Bastion du Soleil au sud.
- Situé à Galle, le Dutch Hospital Shopping Precinct, comme son nom l'indique, est un centre commercial situé dans un bâtiment colonial magnifiquement restauré, construit à l'origine pendant l'occupation néerlandaise. Il a une sélection sans cesse croissante d'endroits pour manger, boire ou faire du shopping. Il y a une vue fabuleuse sur la baie depuis son balcon supérieur. (se combine avec le fort de Galle)

So much too see, so many stops. Turtla Rescue center, beach views, mangrove forest boat tour. Obligitory sales stops at Cinnamon Island and Gem Stone mine. Galle Fort with the famous jumpers (Nest thing on the tour) and thrn the stilt fishermen. I eluld reverse the order though as the stilt fishermen is late in the day.

This was a great trip with a brilliant driver and our guide Naveen for whom nothing was too much trouble - we had a full tour of the Dutch fort which was intriguing after a brilliant cruise on the river seeing lots of wildlife and having a foot bath with the fishes - the turtle hatchery was really informative and great fun

1) extremely rough driving 2) not spors were not clean like bentota beach. there were other beaches which were cleaner 3) quality of vehicle not great for charges

We had a great tour with Krish, who was a great guide and fun to talk to during the long rides. We saw the sea turtles, toured the river, and had about an hour in Galle. Made it back to Colombo around 7 after starting around 8:45.

I had an amazing experience - it was a private tour and I need to thank to the company for very fast and accurate communication. The driver took me to all the places included in the program - we spent almost 12 hours on the road visiting different places and it was amazing. I do recommend to have a water safari at Madu river. Kosgoda sea turtles conservation project is the other thing you should know.

One needs to carefully read the itinerary. it is full of additional optional offers that are not cheap. it adds up and the total trip cost is not too high. driving in a busy towns does not add to the experience. in fact driving in general is crazy FOR the PASSANGER. the only highlight for me was the Modu Safari. The Galle fort has no uniqueness other than its history. I would pick the stops in the itinerary that i want to go. Tell the driver to get there through the highway. the operator & driver executed flawlessly but the trip content does not worth it for me.
