Best whale watching tour ever 👏🫶👍 is highly recommended!

A fantastic boat with a great crew. Excellent explanations about the microphone and very understandable due to the great arrangement of the speakers throughout the boat. Here, there is a sense of reverence when speaking about the whales - no sensational show.

A rare blue whale sighting

Our best whale watching experience ever! The wooden boat gives a more old-fashioned experience. You have to wear overalls to protect yourself from the water splashing and cold wind. We boarded the ship ‘Gardar’. The crew; Mark, Marcus and Jordi took great care of us. Mark, the biologist was very knowledgeable about the fauna in the bay. We had a rare sighting of a mother blue a whale and its calf. And we watched them for almost 40 minutes! The baby blue whale was curious and was circling our boat. I would have been an extremely happy client after the blue whale sighting. But, there came the dessert. Two humpbacks came with their synchronized motion.

Little seen

A 3 hour tour where we soon saw humpback whale Bob and stayed there for a while. Then we had to go to another part for the researchers where we stayed for a while. Then to the rock where there were 2 sea lions and then back towards the harbor. On the way back we got hot chocolate with a biscuit and saw Bob once more. We have done these tours in Canada before but found this boat a little less active looking for new things and research is fine if that happens on the way to something that is also worthwhile for the paying tourists. It didn’t feel to us like everything is being taken out. According to another couple we talked to, we should have been able to see more.

We had a great experience! We saw 7 whales (humpbacks and minkes) and many puffins out in the water. They provided us with a very warm suit to wear so we were very comfortable. Tour guide was great and informative. Loved the hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies we received on the way back to the harbor. Great tour!

Experience of a lifetime

The 3 hour whale watching hing trip was the experience of a lifetime. We saw our first Minke whale even before the safety briefing was finished, and saw several more, including one who was very curious and came right up to the boat. We saw several Humpbacks too, and on the final sighting the whale rolled over slapping the water with its fins. Crew are amazing and so friendly, and the hot chocolate and cinnamon cookies were lovely.

Beautiful view of the bay

Took the 10:00 am tour at the end of May. Is a tour were you have to be patience. We saw two humpbacks whales in the first 20 minutes of the tour. Then, we had a long ride to the other side of the bay without any luck. Because of the wind I wasn’t able to hear the tour guide’s whale information. On the way back we were given hot chocolate and a cookie. Then, we saw another whale. In addition, they provide a waterproof suit to wear over your warm clothes.

We saw five humpback whales on a snowy day. Warm coveralls were provided for extra cold and water protection.

Amazing experience! We saw a bunch of whales and were left in awe. They provide the gear to make sure you’re equipped for whale watching and the treats/drinks were so tasty!

Do NOT go in April

This was the most terrible tour I've ever been on. We set off and within the first 15 minutes I knew we would see no whales. Even though the wind had been calm on shore and there was a 0% chance of precipitation, the waves were unreal and it started snowing. My husband got sick right away, despite having taken Dramamine, and it was so bitterly cold we didn't know how we would survive the full 3 hours. By the end, 90% of the people aboard were throwing up over the edge. Truly a horrible experience for everyone. I'm shocked reading the other reviews about how the guides would tell interesting facts and even have marine biologists aboard. Our guide told us very minimal, general things and nothing that we didn't already know. Since we didn't see any whales they gave us a ticket to come back and do it again for free anytime, but you couldn't pay me enough to get back on that boat. I knew going in April was early in the season, but from how they were talking it sounds like they had seen any whales yet this year at all. It's absurd they can allow people to have such a horrific experience and charge that much. If there is no chance of seeing whales and the seas are that rough, they need to give people a warning and allow people to cancel, or not offer tours at all in April.
