Joel was our incredible guide. We learned so much history about Lisbon. We had a private tour that used both car and walking. The city sits on a hillside and we climbed many stairs. I had hip surgery and was a little slow but was able to handle the many stairs we climbed. He gave us some time to shop and drove us around to many different areas of Lisbon. It was fantastic. So worth it. Thank you Joel!

We booked this private full-day tour of Lisbon through Viator and had the absolute pleasure of spending 8 unforgettable hours with our guide Joel From the moment he picked us up in a brand new electric Mercedes Benz SUV we knew we were in good hands. The vehicle was incredibly comfortable and quiet and my family truly enjoyed riding through the city in style. It set the tone for a smooth relaxed and well-organized day Joel is a born-and-raised local with a deep love for Lisbon and that passion came through in every part of the tour. He shared so much history and local insight but in a way that never felt rehearsed or overwhelming. It was like exploring the city with a friend who knew all the best stories and secret spots Because this was a private tour everything was tailored to us. Joel adjusted the pace to accommodate our family’s needs and interests and made sure we had a good balance of sightseeing walking scenic stops and even a little break for pastries — which became one of our favorite memories. During some free time earlier in the day my husband wanted to try pastel de nata but I told him I wanted to wait for the place Joel had planned. When Joel heard that he said he was proud of me and explained that Pastéis de Belém is the original — like Coca Cola — and the others are like Pepsi. That comparison made us laugh and made the visit to the famous bakery even more special. One minor downside was that when Joel dropped us off at the Time Out Market for lunch it was so crowded we could barely walk through it let alone find a table. Unfortunately we weren’t able to eat there and had to skip lunch. It’s a very popular spot and probably best visited earlier in the day or with a backup plan just in case. That said we would absolutely book this tour again and would recommend Joel to anyone visiting Lisbon. His knowledge warmth and care made our day in the city feel incredibly personal and memorable. We had the most wonderful tour of Lisbon. We were able to see so much of this beautiful city. Our guide, Joel, was fantastic. His love and pride of his city is obvious.

Joel was outstanding showing us a cross section of Lisbon and talking about the history of Lisbon, including the earthquake in the 1700s. Got to stop and shop also was great.
