Itinéraire
Tout d'abord, nous vous emmènerons voir les Kelpies : les plus grandes statues équines du monde.
Nous visiterons ensuite la roue de Falkirk, le premier et le seul ascenseur à bateaux rotatif au monde. Ce monument écossais emblématique et une prouesse d'ingénierie mesure 115 pieds de haut et transfère les bateaux entre les deux canaux.
Nous nous dirigerons ensuite vers Glasgow et notre premier arrêt sera à la cathédrale de Glasgow. Construite dans les années 1100, la cathédrale de Glasgow a survécu presque intacte à la Réforme protestante et est aujourd'hui la cathédrale médiévale la plus complète du continent écossais.
Adjacente à la cathédrale de Glasgow, vous pourrez ensuite explorer la nécropole si vous le souhaitez. Fondée en 1831 et construite selon le style architectural néo-classique, sur le modèle du Père-Lachaise à Paris, la Nécropole compte environ 3 500 tombes. Entrée incluse.
Ici, vous avez également la possibilité de visiter la Seigneurie de Provand. Construite en 1471, c'est la plus ancienne maison de Glasgow.
A côté de la Seigneurie de Provand, vous pourrez si vous le souhaitez visiter le Musée de la Vie Religieuse et de l'Art de Sainte Mangouste. Entrée incluse.
En quittant l'enceinte de la cathédrale, nous vous emmènerons ensuite voir la fontaine Doulton, construite pour l'exposition internationale de 1888 à Glasgow. C'est la plus grande fontaine en terre cuite du monde.
Nous nous dirigerons ensuite vers le West End, via quelques-unes des incroyables peintures murales de Glasgow. Une fois dans le West End, nous vous emmènerons visiter le bâtiment principal de l'université de Glasgow : le bâtiment Gilbert Scott. Il s'agit du deuxième plus grand bâtiment néo-gothique du Royaume-Uni après le palais de Westminster.
Nous vous emmènerons ensuite à la galerie d'art Kelvingrove, construite en 1901 dans le style baroque espagnol. Ici vous pouvez voir une série de collections, ainsi qu'un avion Spirtfire restauré de la Seconde Guerre mondiale.
Enfin, si le temps le permet, nous terminerons notre visite en vous emmenant au musée des transports prix avant de vous ramener à votre bateau de croisière ou à un autre logement de vacances.

Our tour guide Gerry took us on a full day tour from the cruise port to Loch Lomond, the town of Luss, Inveraray, the Coos and the Kelpies. Gerry’s knowledge and stories of the area made for a wonderful full day tour we appreciated the time that he took with us to show us the larger sites as well as the smaller sites along the way. We took this tour as part of a cruise stop. And Gerry was very conscious of the time that we needed to be back to the ship. By the end of the tour we felt like Gerry was part of the family and Scotland was a little bit like home.

Our driver, Simon, was personable, flexible, courteous. He made our day a memorable one because he was willing to personalize our itinerary to help us see some places and things that were of special interest to us. Once he got the sense of the kind of interests we had, he made some excellent suggestions to round out our experience. Our side trip to the little town of Luss proved to be one of the highlights of our day. Simon was also attentive to our needs by providing water, a step stool to get in and out of his van, and his suggestion for lunch in the town of Callander. Lastly, our last experience was with the Falkirk Wheel. Simon took time to explain how it worked and waited patiently while we watched the wheel operate. All in all, we had a great day getting out into the countryside outside of Glasgow. I highly recommend his services as both a good driver and guide.

We had an amazing private tour of the Scottish Highlands area with Gerry. The tour had a standard itinerary but Gerry let us customize it to see and do a few things we specifically requested. Gerry is very knowledgeable about this area and provided us with a lot of very interesting historical facts along our tour. He went above and beyond what we expected to make sure we enjoyed our day with him! Gerry was very professional and very easy to work with.
