Excursion à terre Antigua Guatemala de Puerto Quetzal

Description

Its a 2 hour trip from the port but we are really pleased we went. Great guide and driver. Fantastic experience! Waiting for us as soon as we got off the ship
This was the best shore excursion we had after leaving Ft. Lauderdale on a cruise and stopped in several ports before getting to Puerto Quetzal, Guatemala. Eduardo was our guide and Marlon was our driver. Originally our tour did not start until 8:30 but due to our short day in port, we were able to start an hour earlier, which we really needed! Traffic was a nightmare but Marlon did an excellent job of navigating traffic to get us to Antigua. Eduardo provided us with so much history of Antigua, and was an awesome tour guide. We walked throughout the village and saw all the major sites. Due to the heavy, heavy traffic we were concerned we would miss the all aboard time but not only did we get back exactly at 2:30, we also beat most of the Celebrity tour busses back because we were a small group tour so had a van that was able to navigate through traffic better. We really recommend this tour!
We crammed a lot into 9 hour tour of Antigua Guatemala. Eduardo our guide was superb, getting the balance just right between, culture, nature, shopping and eating/coffee. Felt personal and he was passionate about his country. Our driver took was great on quite difficult roads. The communication before the tour was excellent and the pick up seamlessm Wouldn't hesitate to use these guys again.
Pick up in port perfect, the drive to La Antigua went without any problems. We would have liked more structure during the tour in La Antigua, so a more targeted tour.
Hi Reiner, Thank you for taking the time to share your feedback! We’re glad to hear that your excursion to Antigua went smoothly. We understand your concerns about the structure of the tour. Our guide faced some challenges with the language barrier and used Google Translate to assist, but we recognize that this can limit clarity. Please note that our tour is not offered in German. Your insights are invaluable, and we’ll work on improving this aspect of our service. Thanks again for your feedback!
Our Trip with the Guide Eduardo and the driver Marlon was fantastic. Eduardo was very Kind and he Seemann to know everything about Antigua. We all enjoyed the Trip very much and can recomment it!
Though a long drive, it was worthwhile to see this interesting city & see the vibrant community. Our guide, Carlos, was very good & enthusiastic. Need to be very careful walking on the cobblestone streets & our guide was conscious of guiding us to walk on the sidewalks. Had a lovely lunch (not included) & appreciated being given the time for it. No taking us into shops to make purchases but I’m sure if anyone requested time to shop it would have been accommodated.
Great location Antigua, route past volcanoes, one of them spewed ash clouds. Lush vegetation and bustle. The country surprised us very positively. From 2 groups (4 and 6 travellers) from the same ship for 20% discount! Only the journey was significantly longer due to extensive construction work.
Great day. Antigua, coffee plantation, historical and local information. Dedicated driver and guide. Beat the cruise busses by at least an hour. Worth the splurge.
Unfortunately, due to a teachers strike and earthquake activity, our tour had to be turned around. However, our guide Eduardo and driver Ozman were wonderful. We set out from the port and immediately Eduardo started providing an amazing amount of history of the country of our destination which was to be to Antigua. In the short time we were with Eduardo we really learned a lot about Guatemala. We have no doubt if our tour could have been completed it would have been 5 stars! As the trip had to be cancelled a refund was issued by the tour company/Viator. The refund was made within 1-2 days. Great service all.
It’s a 90 minute very bumpy ride from the port to Antigua. However, the ride is worth the trip. Our guide Moises took us through the old town at a leisurely pace. We made a few stops en route to see markets, jade jewellers and historical landmarks. The narrow cobbled streets are filled with street vendors and fresh fruit stands. We stopped at a restaurant for a bite and a beer. It was perfect. It’s amazing how the street view of establishments hides the inner areas and courtyards. The stores and businesses and private homes are mostly hidden behind huge wooden doors or small openings. Once you’re inside it’s amazing to see the beauty hidden in plain sight. There’s a lot of history as well as legends and superstitions of the indigenous people. Moises was happy to share his knowledge of Mayan culture. There were four of us (2 couples) and we travelled by private air conditioned van.
