Description

It was magical. Saw monkeys and bright crabs and learned so much about the mangroves and Costa Rica. We had a fresh pineapple and had a little nature walk. Loved it.
Excellent visit with a passionate guide who is very knowledgeable about the wildlife and flora!
We were able to see all of the posible animals plus a family of raccoons. Our guide was very receptive to our needs.
Christian was very knowledgeable! Saw Crocodiles, raccoons, monkeys, birds etc. thank you very much!
1st you need to understand that this is nature so nobody on earth besides a zoo is going to be able to guarantee you see the specific animals you want. Crocs are going to be less prevalent in dry season than in wet season. Monkeys will be hot and sleepy during the day. Birds can fly so hit or miss. As for us though we saw a ton: howlers, young croc, herons, ibis, racoons, parakeets, swallows, egrids, and much more. Bring your binoculars and be proactive, you shouldn’t be reliant on a guide for everything because they also gotta drive the boat. 2nd Our guide David was great. Very informative and kind. Pineapple was great at the midway point. 3rd The driver was great. He was early and the company communicated its needs really well, picked us up right on the steps of our hotel. For the price point this was fantastic. Highly recommend if you want a short introduction (about 1 1/2 hours on the boat) to the wildlife here.
We didn't see much, moreover we had asked for a trip in Spanish and it was conducted in English so we didn't understand anything about the explanations of the guide.
Our family (group of 7 with grandparents and one 7yo) did the 7:30am tour today and it was great! Moses was our guide and provided us with so much information about the estuary and the wildlife and flora/fauna that thrive there. Very knowledgeable and you can tell he appreciates the surroundings and is looking out for its continued health. Since it is all based on nature you never know what you are going to see but we were lucky enough to see many species of birds, 3 crocodiles and a small ray that swam along with the boat for a few minutes in the early part of the journey which was really cool!! The early departure was perfect as it wasn’t too hot and you are back by 9:30 to continue your day. Highly recommended, don’t forget to tip your guide and Pura Vida!!
Juan Carlos was a great guide and captain. He was funny, helpful, and above all very knowledgeable about the area and animals. The tour was easily the most informative one we did this trip. Highly recommended. Viator was not good and has not been good in CR. We booked 3 tours with Viator with pickup option. We tried various locations for pickup but the locations provided to us from Viator were incorrect. And the pickup company had similar issues with the addresses and locations provided by Viator. Additionally the pickup locations can only be selected in the app without knowing which is closest to a specific address. Sort of a problem if you are on vacation and don’t know what is close. So likely a problem for most people using Viator. Because we could not be found easily our 2 hour tour was 15 minutes shorter than it should have been. Viator is in it to get their cut. Book this tour directly and skip the Viator hassle and markup.
My mum and I had a great experience with Discover Tamarindo! We saw a crocodile, lots of birds (herons, black hawk, egrets, and other shore birds) and the mangrove ecosystem was beautiful to experience up close. The guide was very knowledgeable and happy to answer questions too.
The boat ride was very educational, and an interesting experience. Unfortunately we saw more wildlife by the resort pool than this ride, but the tour guide knew a lot about the Ecosystem and made the experience worth it. The fresh pineapple was amazing and a lot.
