I did a 7 day Under Down Under tour in April 2026. Both Stan and Lynna our guides were awesome. The group was a lovely mix of ages, filled with beautiful laughs and personalities, the sites of TAS were amazing and we covered a lot of ground... Loved loved loved this tour, would highly recommend for anyone wanting to see and experience Tassy for the first time.
Thanks for your positive reveiw of our super 7 day tour of Tasmania, especially mentioning our guides and the lovely people you met. Kind regards, Under Down Under Tours
DUD tour company lost my trust and these are reasons why - [ ] Not transparent on what hotels we stayed and the single room ammedqity. Only Viator.com disclosed the hotels at my time of booking but they downgraded the hotels in the last minutes. - [ ] Last minute changes in Itinerary. No longer overnight in Bicheno (nicer). Over night in St Helens instead. - [ ] We stayed at a RV “Retreat” Park in Strahan. Everyone carried their 20kg luggages on uneven gravels, drainage, grasses in the dark using a paper map and no signs. Some damaged their rollers. - [ ] Stayed at Allurity, Hobart (dirty rooms) instead of Travelodge (3 star clean rooms). Guide did not know the last minute downgrade and dropped us off at Travelodge. When no rooms for us, we called the Guide. He suggested us to walk 750 meter (0.48 miles) with luggages to Allurity from Travelodge and we refused. - [ ] Their guides are daily paid contractors. I have questions about their experiences. This tour is not for 40+ and physically unfit. There’s are reason why - [ ] Hike and Climb everyday. Cradle Mountain (for example) takes 3 hour and little time to eat and enjoy the view. - [ ] Guide wants you to buy our breakfast, lunch and dinner from supermarkets and use the microwave in the hotel rooms. - [ ] Hotels are not close to nice restaurants featuring hot local crusines. - [ ] Coffee and bathroom break are 15-20 minutes on average. No time to purchase and enjoy the bakery. Skip the breaks if we are running late. - [ ] Travelled in a small Mitsubishi NEO van intended for 17 persons. They put 19 uncomfortable seats. Very weak air and fog up windows. The provided cloth is no use for the fog up windows.
Dear Vincent, We’re sorry to learn that you are disappointed with our tour communication and delivery. We agree that there are a few issues that we should have handled better, and we are grateful for the opportunity to share our point of view. From May 1, an itinerary change came into effect (overnight in St Helens instead of Bicheno). We emailed you this new itinerary on that day, May 1. Regarding the change, both coastal towns are scenic and popular East Coast communities. If anything, there are many more options for restaurants in St Helens, and on Day 5 we stop in Bicheno so that guests can still have an experience there. This change also allows for a more relaxed day 4, without detracting from our time in Freycinet National Park on day 5. Accommodations – The properties have not been downgraded, but some have been changed so that all guests can stay together at the same accommodation rather than being split across two properties, while also ensuring private bathroom facilities for all room types. We appreciate that accommodation changes can be frustrating, but overall, we believe these arrangements help provide a more comfortable and consistent experience. Strahan Retreat Cabins – it is a good point that at times there will be a short walk to the cabins and guests are responsible for managing their own bags to/from their rooms. We are working with the property to improve lighting for the few months where it is dark upon arrival (it is still light for the majority of our tours). We apologise that you found the navigation more difficult than it should be – we will seek to improve this issue for future tours. We sincerely apologise for the situation in Hobart. Our guide mistakenly dropped you at the wrong accommodation but returned promptly to collect you and correct the error. We are also sorry that you had arranged your post-tour accommodation based on earlier information, and we understand how frustrating that would have been. We do not expect this issue to occur going forward. In relation to your room concerns, we were not aware there was a problem at the time. In those situations, it is best to notify reception as soon as possible so the property has the opportunity to address the issue promptly. To clarify, our guides are employees of our company rather than independent contractors. Your guide has lived in Tasmania for many years and has decades of guiding experience here. We value his local knowledge and experience, and we are confident in his ability to lead the tour professionally. Further clarifications: Fitness – The 7-day tour is designed for guests with moderate fitness and good mobility, as outlined on our website and through online agents. As noted in our itineraries, there are walks each day and, while participation is optional, being comfortable with walks ranging from around 20 minutes to 3 hours will help guests make the most of the national parks and attractions included in the tour. For this reason, our Original Style Tours are best suited to travellers who enjoy an active holiday. Vehicle – Your tour travelled in a Rosa vehicle, which has 24 guest seats. We are not familiar with the Mitsubishi Neo vehicle you mentioned, so we are unable to comment on that specifically. Meals – Lunches on tour are generally more informal and suited to the day’s travel schedule. We usually suggest purchasing lunch earlier in the day so it can be enjoyed while visiting parks and attractions. Dinner arrangements are flexible and entirely up to each guest. While some travellers appreciate the convenience of dining at their accommodation, you are very welcome to dine out if you prefer. Some locations offer more restaurant choices than others, though it is certainly possible to arrange dinner at a restaurant each evening if that is your preference. Value – Our Original Tours are designed for budget to mid-range travellers and are often regarded as offering good value for money. That said, we are sorry to hear that the tour did not meet your expectations. We have never presented these tours as a luxury product. We also offer Comfort Tours, which include motel and hotel accommodation and are popular with older active travellers, although they are not positioned as luxury tours either. We are genuinely sorry that this tour was not the right kind of tour for you, and take full responsibiltiy for the mistake we made in Hobart. We do hope that overall, Tasmania itself was a wonderful experience and you have positive memories of our island. Under Down Under
It was an excellent tour, way exceeded our expectations. Keygun, our driver and guide, was the most enthusiastic guide we had so far and we had done many tours over the seven continents. We are retired active couples and really enjoyed the challenging hike such as climbing up Mt Amos with Keygun. He always offered easier options for those who wanted a more relaxed pace.
Brendon our tour guide was amazing, getting to discover Tasmania through people that know and love the island is amazing. If I were to do it again I would probably pick the 10 days tour and I can't wait to go back.
Terrific! Please do join us for the 10 day tour! We'll take you to the far Northwest Coast, Bruny Island, and you can experience some of the same national parks and have a new experience each time. Thanks for your great review. All the best. Under Down Under
My boyfriend and I have been on a 7 day Under Down Tour and were lucky to have Keygan as our guide - he was simply the sweetest and told us so many exciting things about Tasmania, history, nature and knew almost everything we asked about or wanted to know. We felt in very safe hands and had some exciting days - where Cradle Mountain is especially on our top list of days (including the cute wombats on the route). The last two days of the tour we got a new guide Lynna who was also super cute and committed to making our days good! Thanks for some adventurous days!
Thank you so much for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled that you and your partner enjoyed the **7-Day Super 7 Day Tour of Tasmania **. It’s wonderful to hear that Keygan shared so much knowledge about Tasmania’s history, nature, and wildlife, and that you felt well cared for throughout the trip. We love Cradle Mountain too. We're thrilled you saw wombats, and we’re glad those moments made your tour extra memorable. We’re also delighted that Lynna made the final days of your tour just as enjoyable with her care and enthusiasm. Thank you for sharing your experience, and we hope to welcome you on another adventure with Under Down Under Tours soon! Warm regards, The Under Down Under Tours Team
We had a wonderful time on this 7-day tour. Keygan, our guide for the first five days, was by far the best guide we have ever experienced. He was knowledgeable, funny, energetic, and overall just a great guy. The itinerary we received beforehand was clear and well-organized. We liked the pace during the week; active and outdoorsy, exactly as described. The hostels were all fine. Every bed and towel was clean. Shared areas were in fine condition. We choose the double room in a hostel option. Luckily, the weather held up, allowing us to hike Mount Amos. As it was my first time doing a hike of that intensity, I really appreciated Keygan’s support; his tips made the experience much more manageable and pleasant. All in all, we look back on an exhausting but incredible tour of Tassie. I would certainly recommend this trip to anyone looking to experience Tasmania's stunning nature and wildlife.
Thank you for your fantastic review! We’re thrilled to hear that your 7-Day Super 7 Tour of Tasmania was such a memorable experience. It’s wonderful that Keygan’s knowledge, energy, and support made your tour even more enjoyable, and that the clear itinerary and well-paced activities allowed you to fully experience Tasmania’s stunning nature and wildlife. Sorry you found it a bit exhausting, but we're glad to know you said it was worth it! We’re glad the accommodation met your needs and that the weather held for your Mount Amos hike—Keygan will be delighted to hear your kind words about his guidance. It is one of the more challenging day walks/climbs in Tasmania, well done! Thank you for recommending the tour. We hope to welcome you back for another unforgettable Under Down Under adventure in Tasmania! Warm regards, The Under Down Under Tours Team
The tour gave a great overview of Tasmania with room for nice activities and especially beautiful hikes. The guide made the experience so much more valuable. Keygan told us so much about Tasmanian history and nature. If i had done this tour solo with a car, I wouldn’t have known half about Tasmania as what I do now. 100% recommend.
Thank you for your wonderful review! We’re delighted to hear that your **7-Day Super-7 Tour of Tasmania** provided such a great overview of the island, with plenty of opportunities for hiking and enjoying Tasmania’s natural beauty. It’s fantastic that Keygan’s knowledge of history and nature added so much value to your experience—one of the joys of a guided tour is learning about the island in ways that are hard to achieve independently. This is our strong point and we work hard to ensure that you see the highlights plus hidden gems. It also means less stress and hassle driving and navigating especially in rural and regional areas! We really appreciate your recommendation and hope to welcome you back on another Under Down Under adventure in Tasmania soon! Warm regards, The Under Down Under Tours Team
This was an amazing tour guided by amazing guides Keygan and Lynna. These two were phenomenal! They added value to our everyday experience. We found lots of wildlife including the elusive platypus! Really you must go and their tours. Nicely appointed vehicles carted for along the way by the guides.
I did the 7-day Tasmania tour with Under Down Under in the first week of January 2026, and it was an great experience. Tasmania completely exceeded my expectations not just for its beauty, but for how much variety you experience in such a short time. Every day felt different, from the wild west coast and Cradle Mountain to the east coast beaches, Freycinet, Port Arthur and Hobart. The itinerary was well designed and balanced. We covered a lot of ground, but it never felt rushed, and there was a good mix of walking, sightseeing and time to simply take things in. Transport was good, I had a single accommodation that was better than expected for this style of tour, and everything ran smoothly, which made the whole experience feel relaxed. A major highlight of the trip was our guide, Brendon. His passion for Tasmania and for his work genuinely elevated the entire experience. He was friendly, fun, caring and extremely knowledgeable, and it was clear how much pride he takes in sharing the places, stories and environment of Tasmania. He created a great group atmosphere, was always checking in on everyone, and adapted plans thoughtfully around weather and group needs. You could really feel that he loves what he does, and that made a big difference. Overall, this tour was far more than just ticking off sights for me. It was immersive, grounding and memorable. I would highly recommend Under Down Under to anyone wanting to experience Tasmania properly, and I would happily do this trip again.
An absolutely jam packed 7-days, the folks at under down under have got you covered if you love nature, trails, hiking, and stunning views. This is not a leisurely vacation but that's how I love it! Tasmania is an GEM! Our guides Phil and Lynna were knowledgeable, helpful, and so so patient in rallying the group together. The size of the group is perfect- not too big. The tour is so well thought that they have challenging hikes but also easier alternative trails- I was nervous that it would be taxing for older folks, but my parents and I could enjoy the same trip at our respective comfort levels. We travelled the towns and villages we never would have and both our guides made sure we saw the every view point, got our photos, were hydrated, fed, and comfortable while coming out to be more knowledgeable about Tasmania. Just a point of slight feedback was if there were slightly longer stops for lunch (not much- but 10-15 minutes more), as my parents had strict dietary restrictions and we had would take slightly longer than usual to get the food or assemble a meal from the groceries purchased. But we were definitely the outliers and the rest of the group had barely any problems.
This is all very helpful feedback, thanks so much! We're so pleased you were able to join our tour with your parents and all enjoy the trip together.
