We had an incredible day exploring the Pyramids, Sphinx and other spots. Mohamed Elsonni picked us up promptly and couldn’t have been better. Very friendly and kept us entertained with local Egyptian music. Our tour guide also excellent (name started with M) and very friendly and knowledgeable about everything. A couple of stops along the way to sell us on some Egyptian art and and perfume oils but didn’t feel pressured at all. Thanks for a great time and would highly recommend Emo Tours!
Excellent tour. Picked up outside port. Driver Mohammad was very good as was our guide Ahmed. Never felt unsafe going on our own and far better than being part of the 37 tour buaes lvg on Ship tour. Saw everything we wanted at our own pace and at a cost half the cruise ship price. Highly recommend.
While there were some bright spots and we saw many important sites, overall our day was disappointing and very stressful. I believe the root cause of the stress was a guide that lacked critical knowledge of the sites, and about how to navigate the streets of Alexandria and Giza. First the good: - Even though our cruise arrived later than the advertised start time of 6am (we were unable to disembark and meet the guide until 11am), the guide was able to adjust and we made it to three sites: Sakkara, Memphis, and the Great Pyramids site in Giza (this flexibility is one reason we chose a “private” tour) - the guide was very friendly and offered interesting stories and histories about some of the artifacts and pyramids we saw Things that Could be Better - While some private tour guides met their groups inside the gates of the port, we had to meet ours outside the gate (an additional 5 minute walk) and he was not holding a sign with our name - The car was a newer model with AC as advertised, but still felt very cramped for 3 people on the tour (the back seats were small) - The guide’s English seemed good, but he did not understand our requests for how to manage the day. We told him our top #1 priority was to see The Great Pyramids of Giza, but if we had time, we’d like to see Sakkara as well. We stressed to only see Sakkara if time allowed. He took us to see Sakkara first, but for only 20 minutes, then took us to Memphis (which we didn’t ask for) and then to the Great Pyramids minutes before they were to close. He told us “don’t worry - you will have a few hours to walk around the Pyramids after they stop letting people in”. This was not true and the security guards started kicking us out within 15 minutes of our arrival. We barely got to see 1 Pyramid, had to take “drive by” type photos of the Sphinx, and spent no time seeing anything else on the site. Had we known this before we would have skipped everything else and just gone straight to the Great Pyramids. What was Terrible and Scary - the driver and guide got LOST driving the streets of Alexandria trying to return us to the port. Traffic was heavy and they kept “trying to find a better way” rather than just using google maps which showed the way, and also showed the travel times including traffic. Every turn they took ADDED time to the trip, and at three points they rolled down the windows asking locals for directions back to the port. The streets were chaotic and jammed, and we nearly missed the “last call” to get back onto our boat. We spent over an hour driving in circles in Alexandria. It was very stressful and very scary.
Absolutely Fabulous! First class experience, Khalaf our guild was so knowledgeable about the history of each and every place we visited. Abdo our drive kept us safe and was always right there waiting for us when we were ready to go to the next destination. Highly recommend. Thank you for a wonderful experience
Our ship changed it's itinerary which through a wrench into our original booking. Emo's tour took it all in stride and altered the dates and times without complaint...even picking us up at 5:30 am and getting us back to our ship early. Mohammed and his driver were outstanding.
This was to be the highlight of our cruise - the pyramids. After sitting in the small bus for over a hour and 20 minutes we finally started on our way. Marwan our guide apologized and said they were a brand new company and were still working out some things. (Emo Tours Egypt). The drive to Cairo from Alexandria is about 2 1/2 hours without a lot to see along the way. When we arrived at Giza, Marwan was full of information. It would have been great if he/the company had been able to pre-purchase our tickets as we had to stand around for at least 20 minutes since there was quite a line. But it was worth it in the end to see the pyramids and to learn about the history of their making. We had a fabulous lunch at an authentic Egyptian restaurant. We also visited a papyrus making shop. I think if you give this company a couple of months to work out a few things they will be great to tour with. Marwan was a wonderful tour guide. Note that you will have an armed escort with it at all times.
Pros. Knowledge guide. Knew schedule and what would work for us Cons: BAIT AND SWITCH. Reserved private tour. Several days before told small group and offered 10% discount or could cancel. Not fair! We had to spend more time at carpet shop and Papyrus “museum” aka store. If it was our private tour we wouldn’t have done at all. Guide knew English but hard to understand
This will be a mixed review. We booked a PRIVATE TOUR due to mobility issues and We prefer to go at our own pace. The day before the tour we got a message saying they had changed our tour to a group tour. They offered to give us a 10% discount or cancel the tour entirely. We did not have any other option to see the pyramids so we did the group tour. 2 people delayed the group (not us) and we wait Ted 1.5 hrs for them. Not happy but got to see the amazing pyramids!
I went on the Great Pyramids tour including, Sakkara, and Memphis with my family and we had so much fun! Pick up was simple and the day ran very smoothly as our tour guide, Mohamed Hamed, handled everything. He also gave a great tour with interesting history facts at each of the locations. He also gave us time at each of the locations to look around a bit on our own and take a lot of photos. Mohamed also took a lot of great photos of us as a family which we will have forever! We stopped for lunch at the end which was both delicious and filling after a lot of touring. Overall the experience was amazing and I would recommend it to anyone who is looking for a fun, history filled, easy tour of some of Egypt’s must see sights!
Thanks for the organization and for picking us up at the port of ain sokhna..thanks to tayso for his help, great day and restaurant at the top..guide and very pro driver..
