That was a very beautiful tour, with a really friendly driver Vasilis. So fun, so balanced, so enjoyable
Vasilis is our guide and driver. Picking up was smooth. He comes early (~10 min early). He also contacts you a day in advance. The car is Mercedes sedan E class. He provides us with two water bottles for the trip. Vasilis says that this trip is however we want it. We can spend more or less time at each site. Each trip is about 1-1.5 hr from each other. You can choose which destination you want to go first. From Thessaloniki, we go to Edessa water fall. We have not eaten breakfast. We eat at the cafe that is next to the Waterfall. It is serene and breezy. The food and drink and price are reasonable (around €12-15 for food and around €3-5 for non alcoholic drinks). Restroom is very clean. Next, we go to the Kir-Yanni Winery, famous for their red wine Nousa. Beautiful scenery. The €10 basic tasting per person is included but you can do other tier of tastings. There are 3 other levels or by the glass. The price for bottle wine is reasonable. The winery export to the United States to a store in Chicago but of course the price per bottle is double or triple. Restroom is clean too. We end up spending more time on those two locations and then maybe 30 min to less than 1 hour to the museum. The museum entrance is €20 per person. Restroom is free but not clean. The museum is dark because the intention is as if you enter the tomb itself. It is hard to read all the description after drinking so much wine. Sometimes if you are lucky, you can listen to other guide gives explanations to make it more make sense. We watch a short movie to make sense whats going on. For history buff, definitely must a go. For wine drinker, maybe not a must go. If you want a guide that just focus on the history, you can hire them separately at Tripadvisor. It seems that the tour company can accommodate this too because Vasilis tells us that sometimes he travel with a historical guide if the customer request one. The guide is not cheap €100 or more when I look at the price at TripAdvisor. Around the museum, there are many eateries too that Vasilis recommend. We finish about 1 hour from schedule time which Vasilis gladly accommodates. Vasilis still offers if we want to eat around Vergina, but we decide to go back to Thessaloniki. Like many guide in Thessaloniki, Vasilis is a student. He has exam next week. As a responsible adults, we feel it is important that we go home so he can study. To us this is the most relaxing guided trip we have been. Despite the age difference, we find Vasilis easy to talk to and give perspective about life in Thessaloniki. He is also great at explaining historical sites. The company has private trip to Meteora, Halkidiki, and around Thesaloniki. The tour only takes 3 people at the most. I definitely recommend it
It was a good mix of activities of a day trip out of the city with a little history, culture and nature.
Thank you for your review! We're glad you enjoyed the well-balanced mix of history, culture, and nature on your day trip. Hope to see you again!
It was a lovely tour. We did the guided tour of the tomb, which was very informational, and overall a wonderful experience. The winery is small, but the wine is delicious. Wine tasting was not included but it's only 6 EURO a person, so not a big deal. The waterfall was amazing. Beautiful views. Eat before you go there is no food provided.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the guided tomb tour, the stunning waterfall, and the winery. Your tips about the wine tasting and bringing food are very helpful for future travelers.
Four of us took a private day trip from Thessaloniki to Edessa, Naoussa, and Vergina on a sunny June day. Our guide, John, was great. He was very knowledgeable, funny, and made sure we saw everything without making us ever feel rushed.
Thank you so much for your kind feedback! We’re delighted to hear you enjoyed the tour with Mr. John. We hope to see you again on another tour!
A highly recommended trip. Our driver Ioannis was very knowledgeable & even gave us simultaneous translation to English when the official talk was in Greek.
Thank you for your feedback! We’re glad you enjoyed the trip and hope to see you again!
The tourguide was amazing, patience and kind. It was all together a great time with him. He knew the history of the the places and museums we went to.
Thank you for your 5-star review!! We’re glad you enjoyed the trip and hope to see you again!
Both our driver and guide, Ioannis, made the experience truly special with their professionalism and deep knowledge of the region’s history and culture. The royal tombs of Vergina were awe-inspiring, and Ioannis’ insights brought the ancient history to life. The wine tasting at Kir-Yianni Winery was a highlight – the wines were exceptional, and the setting was stunning. To top it off, the Edessa waterfalls were breathtaking and the perfect way to end the day. A well-organized, enriching, and luxurious experience. Highly recommend this tour – five stars!
