Our Akaroa trip with kiwi horizons travel was absolutely unforgettable.Highly recommend
We opted for a private tour with a guide which we have done many orher times with Viator. Our guide met us on time, was polite and kind, but was more like a driver not a guide. I asked about the scope of the day which typically guides start with telling you what you will see, how long it takes to get there and if you want to make minor adjustments along the way. He told us the name of town we were visiting, no real history, distance etc. We did learn that we would not be driving through Christchurch at the end which was implied in the description. He did offer to adjust and take us there for an additional fee. We declined. Akorea was a nice town, but perhaps the tour should include a dolphin tour or a visit to Giants Park...not a lot to do once you get there. Again, our driver tried, but the Viator description and our past experience with hiring a private guide who is ecyrenely knowledgeable and flexible was disappointinh
We thoroughly enjoyed the day. The harbor cruise was a real treat, with sightings of dolphins and seabirds, and the calm waters made it a relaxing experience. Akaroa’s charm combined with the natural beauty of the peninsula made for an unforgettable trip.
The private aspect of the tour made it feel so much more personal. We had time to enjoy a leisurely lunch by the harbor, followed by a walk through the small streets lined with heritage buildings. It felt like stepping into a little piece of France in New Zealand.
This was one of the highlights of our time in New Zealand. The drive was scenic, the guide was attentive, and Akaroa itself is such a unique little town with its French history. We loved walking by the waterfront and watching the boats come in.
We had the most wonderful day in Akaroa with Kiwi Horizons. The drive from Christchurch was scenic with rolling hills, and our guide made sure to stop at the best viewpoints. The town itself was charming, with a strong French influence and a laid-back vibe. The highlight for us was the harbor cruise where we saw dolphins up close.
