Description

Zenab was an amazing tour guide. Very efficient in her information. She pointed out every little detail and spoke very well for us.
I booked a tour on foot through city of death. According to the description, we would walk through the streets there, see inhabited houses, shops and the residents. The guide still said at the beginning of the tour we would go to the mosque first then walk through city of death. After the mosque, he wanted to show me another mosque on the premises, then walk through the streets. Unfortunately, it was said that we cannot go there because everything is to be demolished there. Huh?? I told the guide that's not okay. Then why was the tour confirmed and not cancelled? Then we are through a military cemetery and a house was shown to me where I had to give the resident money. The tour cost 55€ and I did not receive what was offered. This should have been discussed with me in advance or the tour cancelled by the provider. It is not ok to accept money for a service, but not to provide it. The guide himself was nice and competent, but I did not receive the offered and paid tour. Two mosques in 3.5 hours. I find this cheeky and I am curious to see if the organizer will comment and pay me back some of the money.
City of death is huge and has a lot of things to see, but they only take you to one place. I had to push them to go to a 2nd mosque. For the price paid appart of visiting Ibn Tulum mosque, they should do a propper tour in City of Dead, but it is not the case.
Here's the response: --- Thank you for sharing your honest feedback. We appreciate you taking the time to let us know about your experience. You make a very valid point — the City of the Dead is a vast and fascinating area with so much to explore, and we understand your frustration that the tour didn't cover it as thoroughly as you expected. For the price paid, you deserve a comprehensive experience that does justice to this unique and historically rich part of Cairo. Having to push for a second mosque visit is not something any guest should have to do. We are taking your feedback seriously and are reviewing the itinerary for this particular tour to ensure it includes a more in-depth exploration of the City of the Dead, with multiple stops that truly reflect the depth and character of the area. We would appreciate the chance to discuss this further with you. Please feel free to contact us directly at info@pyramidsland.com. Warm regards, Pyramids Land Tours Team
We visited the mosques of Ibn Tulun and Al-Nasir Faraj Ibn Barquq after which we had a short stroll in a few streets of the city of the dead. Overall almost 4h start-to-end Our tour guide, Fatima Mohamed, actually made it into a great activity beyond our expecttation. Her knowledge and enthousiastic, direct approach to the history behind the areas visited was highly appreciated. Pick-up of the hotel and return all fine, we really enjoyed this trip, thank you Fatima :)
Fatima was a fantastic tour guide, especially as she had studied extensively while she was at University. I learnt facts that I wouldn’t even have considered if I went by myself or if I googled anything. The city of the dead part is not too much so do just consider it is mostly mosques but fantastic tour nonetheless.
The guide Mimmo is very professional and prepared we visited the very beautiful mosque what disappointed us was the visit to the city of the dead where we saw practically nothing. We didn't even get out of the car. We only crossed the street we did not see nor where they live in the houses in the graves I think it was a real disappointment. The visit lasted 2.5 hours The guide to repair this disappointment accompanied us to the. Cairo Museum for 1 hour free .. He was very good and honest
First of all, we loved our tour guide Mimmo! He was very friendly and helpful, giving us several useful tips (this being our first experience in Cairo). He clearly had a deep knowledge of Egyptian history and culture. We enjoyed the trip to the city of the dead, where we drove through the streets and visited some mausoleums, as well as the visit to the mosque Ibn Tulum.
Great experience, we visited the Ibn Tulun Mosque, the city of the dead, the mausoleum inside the latter and last thing visited the military tombs. Mimmo was really a great guide, very prepared and always available to answer any questions, recommended
This was a great experience, some storytelling. our guide was a woman, which is always a highlight. Loved it.
This tour was one of my favorites, during my sixteen days in Egypt. The guide provided a good overview of the huge old mosque, Ibn Tulun, and other sites we visited. The view from the minaret was fantastic. The City of the Dead portion provided insight into a way of life I'd never imagined, and we also visited a beautiful mausoleum and graves of some hugely significant Egyptians. Thank you!
