A bad experience. We booked a tour where it was clearly written that it included Italian/English guide and entrance fees. What we found instead was a driver who spoke only Arabic and no guide and tickets that we had to pay for. We were dumped on the road and there some very insistent Egyptians said that it was not possible to enter if we did not pay and we were alone among 10/15 men. The situation did not seem to us such as to make controversy for our security. We paid, went alone to the temple without any guide and after a brief glance we went back to look for the driver to return to our hotel. Unacceptable that there was no guide, when you buy these tours especially to be accompanied and protected because so much now the historical information on can be easily found even from the phone! Disturbed and embittered, we seriously feared for our safety.
Cordiali saluti.
Esna was an hour drive from our hotel but our guide Azab was great and told use some of the history. We arrived and were surprised where it was tucked away up a tiny street. Azab talked about the temple and hieroglyphics and then we had free time to wonder before heading back. It’s a small temple but so worth it thanks to Azab and his knowledge
An absolute 10/10 experience!Khaled Elsmaky is the best guide we"ve ever had. Knowledgeable, punctual and incredibly kind. He tailored the tour to Dandera to our interests and made sure we felt safe and informed every step of the way.
Positive experience. Guide Egyptologist prepared and very kind. The only flaw: at the time of booking the tour was not specified an extra cost per Italian language that was instead among the options selectable at no additional cost.
good experience, would recommend the visit of Esna temple with Egyptologist as i guide, allows you to better understand the history
Not worth the back and forth from Luxor. The temple is quite small - but impressing nonetheless… but you can see everything in 15 minutes so to drive 3 hours is not worth it.
Thank you for sharing your feedback. We appreciate your honest opinion and are glad you still found the temple impressive, even if the journey did not fully meet your expectations.
The temple of Esna is wonderful, well worth a visit. Early morning is better because there are few people
We visited Esna Tempel from Luxor with this private Guide Tour. Our tour guide was the very symphatic Dr. Azeb, he speeks perfectly and understandable English and has a deep knowledge of the ancient egyptian history. But he could also answer all of our other questions. His driver brought us savely back and forth, the Ride is 1:20h for one direction. The temple is awesome (the colors, inscriptions…) and you should have a guide like him to get all the little details explained in family atmosphere. MANY thanks for this unforgettable experience.
It was the most beautiful Temple (or part of it) we have seen. The very knowledgeable guide explained everything there was to know. In addition, he lent himself for a ride in the city as his hometown. WONDERFUL!
Visiting the Esna Temple was a major highlight of my trip to Egypt this summer, and that is all thanks to Walid, who was an amazing guide.
