Le monument "Arche des Charents" a été créé par l'architecte Raphaël Israelyan. Un jour, en se rendant à Garni, il s'arrêta à cet endroit et, constatant qu'une vue pittoresque s'ouvrait de là vers le mont Ararat, il décida de construire une arche comme "temple" vers Ararat. L'arche a été construite en 1957, à l'occasion du 60e anniversaire du grand poète arménien Yeghishe Charents. On dit que le poète aimait aussi se promener dans ce lieu. C'est comme un cadre photo, d'où une vue envoûtante s'ouvre sur la vallée de l'Ararat avec Masis flottant au loin. Les mots suivants complétant le célèbre poème de Charents sont gravés sur l'ouverture frontale le long de l'arc : "Il n'y a pas de sommet aussi blanc comme neige que celui de la haute Ararat; Comme un chemin inaccessible vers la gloire, j'aime mon Mont Masis !" Vous pouvez faire ici de superbes photos avec en toile de fond l'Arche et la montagne Ararat, seul le temps devrait être clair.
Le temple Garni, qui domine un cap triangulaire, est l'exemple unique de la culture païenne en Arménie. C'est un mélange de styles gréco-romain et arménien. Le roi Trdat Le Premier ordonna la construction du temple au premier siècle de notre ère et le dédia au Dieu du Soleil. Après avoir adopté le christianisme en 301, le temple païen perdit de son importance et la forteresse de Garni devint la résidence d'été des rois. De nos jours, les ruines du palais royal et la salle de bain avec une superbe œuvre en mosaïque peuvent être trouvées près du temple.
Le monastère de Geghard est le chef-d'œuvre indépassable de l'architecture arménienne du XIIIe siècle. Certaines des églises du complexe sont taillées de main de maître dans un énorme rocher. Dès le début, le complexe s'appelait Ayrivank (monastère rupestre), puis il a été renommé Geghard (lance) car la lance, utilisée par le soldat romain pour piquer du côté de Jésus-Christ, avait été conservée dans ce monastère pendant de nombreux siècles. Grâce à sa construction, Geghardavank est le meilleur endroit pour chanter des chants spirituels. Le complexe est riche de subtils embellissements sculpturaux et de nombreux khatchkars (croix de pierre) saisissants. Le site est inscrit sur la liste du patrimoine culturel mondial de l'UNESCO.

Excellent experience! Beautiful places, nature plus old construction. Very beautiful and unique. Likely, not something would have experienced in other parts of Europe. Do it as a private tour if you can - much better, not rushed, and lots of information/conversation with the guide. Our guide was Mariam and driver Arman - both were top!

I have a gluten allergy, and Arev kindly informed the hosts who made sure that there was plenty that I could eat safely. We highly recommend!

Our tour guide Rose and the driver Aved accompanied us on a beautiful excursion. We were picked up by the comfortable limousine from the hotel and learned a lot about Armenia's history from Rose (by the way, very engagingly told). Aved drives very pleasantly and confidently; nothing disturbed his calm, and he accompanied us all day with a friendly smile. We visited the ancient temple of Garni, the Geghard Monastery, and the volcanic rock formations "Symphony of Stones." As a special surprise, Rose organized a small outdoor dinner for us featuring specialties of Armenian cuisine. The richly laid table was the crowning conclusion to a perfect day of excursions. On our very first day in Armenia, we experienced a wonderful welcome in this way: we arrived as tourists, and we left as guests and friends. We were so excited that we booked another tour on the same day! 😍

We booked our tour with Hyur based on a recommendation from friends, and we were very happy with the experience. Mariam and her driver, Hrach, arrived on time, and the comfortable car and complimentary water were a nice start to the day. The half day we spent with Mariam felt less like a formal tour and more like discovering the area with a local friend. She shared interesting stories and insights, answered all our questions, and gave us several useful recommendations for the rest of our stay in Armenia.
