Bundle up! Trust that the weather will likely change often and you might get lucky, like us! Yummy treats too. Guide Barny/the bear was very sweet and knowledgeable, provided interesting stories and history.
Barney was a great tour guide and gave us a wealth of knowledge of Icelandic history and culture! A comfortable round trip to the Northern Lights and I highly recommend!
Be patient! You may not see the Northern lights at the first location your tour guide goes to. Baldwin, our tour guide went to four different locations and on the fourth location we saw the Northern lights. The colors were green, purple and shades of pink. Baldwin was the was the best! He was very determined we were going to see something. Baldwin was knowledgeable and engaging with us. The hot chocolate and blankets were welcoming. It was extremely cold that night even late March, so dress WARM!
Your driver knew exactly where to go for the most activity. They had no problem when asked to take pictures. They were great.
Absolutely loved this experience! Our guide did an awesome job navigating the lights. We were sure to see some and we were so thankful!
Bus was not overly booked, communication was wonderful when they had to rebook due to low chances to see the lights. Guide was enthusiastic and knowledgeable. We got lucky with seeing the lights right away. 😁
Great experience, our guide was friendly, provided us with lovely hot chocolate and donuts! He didn’t rest until we saw the northern lights 😁
Just came back from my Northern Lights Tour with Diego & Greco and they did a FABULOUS job! I was concerned we wouldn't see any but they stopped at several different places and we saw them each time. They also took great pictures of us and sent them right away. They had great attitudes and were patient and friendly. Highly recommend!
Shouldn’t have taken place as no chance of seeing anything. We wandered round for 4 hours filling time
Thank you so much for your constructive feedback. It is very methodical, intelligent and informative. As the Northern lights don't tend to turn on as we please we drive around trying to find spots in the sky where the lights might appear. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. It's like whale watching, sometimes they can be seen, sometimes not. We're sorry the tour wasn't up to your standard but thanks for giving 2 stars instead of 1 as a person spent it's time driving around trying it's best to find northern lights for you. A person that has some 20+ years experience in finding northern lights but as it turns out, it's not a given. Thanks for visiting Iceland
I've been coming to Iceland for 12+ years - and I'd never seen the Northern Lights until I took this tour! I've been married to an Icelander, and we live abroad but come over 1-2 times a year. I've been here many times, but never seen the aurora, despite trying and being here at times when activity was great and the weather fantastic. Still: didn't happen. So believe me when I say I was sceptical this would break the trend. And yet, having such a knowledgeable and friendly guide made all the difference. He knew exactly when to look where, had a couple of tricks up his sleeve (and almost more importantly: hot drinks and snacks to keep us out in the freezing January cold). And with his help, on a less than perfect day, I finally saw them! An amazing experience, and one I'm very grateful to Gestur and his team for.
